If she had an ultrasound that showed 2 gestational sacs or 2 heartbeats, then she is having twins. You can find this out as early as 5 weeks (to see the sacs) or 6 weeks (for the heartbeat).
You can also speculate at a twin or multiple pregnancy if she has a blood test with BHCG levels taken. If the numbers are higher than normal for the dates of her pregancy, then she could be pregnant with multiple babies. This is not always the case though. It must be confirmed with an ultrasound. High levels can also be bad, possibly ectopic pregnancy.

Well, I've never heard of a doctor giving an ultrasound at 5 1/2 weeks, there's really no need unless there are complications or complaints of cramping. And I miscarried at 6 weeks and was told a heartbeat would not be detectable that early in the pregnancy. I'm 33 wks prego now and have only had 2 ultrasounds, 1 at 10 wks and 1 at 22 wks. Is it possible she's further along than she's leading everyone to believe?

Congratulations on the Twins in your Family!!! How exciting. they can tell for sure. My first sonogram was at 6 weeks and I could see 1 sack with a floating bubble in it. So Her having twins means they saw 2 sacs. Pretty soon those bubble will turn into Peanuts! and then Little babies. Wish her the best of luck, she should feel great.

Its now not such a lot approximately how lengthy to attend. Its approximately understanding while and if the second is proper. If you think your boyfriend is lukewarm approximately your dating (he does not move out of his method to make certain you're completely satisfied). Don't say it. However, whilst you see that he is treating like you're very designated and he quite needs to make you completely satisfied. Tell him you're keen on him. Especially if he is going out of his method to do anything first-rate for you. Just consider considerate movements that require plenty of attempt equals love on the grounds that guys are all approximately movement. Not such a lot phrases. This might be an right time. However, in the event you certainly not get to a factor wherein he has determined that you're a designated lady that he must cherish and adore...omit it. When they are now not capable... its unnecessary. Sometimes announcing you're keen on anybody too quickly or throughout a clumsy second does not support the connection alongside both. Especially if it sort of feels like they're uncertain how they think approximately you. Knowing that you simply love them offers them the upperhand within the dating. They'll consider you can do whatever for them however they do not ought to do so much so that you can get your love. This is a foul position for a woman. You frequently ought to sell off them at that factor except they begin to have more potent emotions for you. The first-rate case situation from the women factor of view is to watch for him to mention it first. However, if you're moved by way of a loving gesture you'll be able to say you're keen on him first.

I guess it could be possible. I am pregnant with my first and didn't have an ultrasound until almost 11weeks. At that time they still could not hear the heart but could see it beating in the baby. At 6weeks an ultrasound could determine twins but I don't think anything but that could. Best of luck.

A yolk sac can be seen as early as early as mid 5th week. Are you sure that she didn't tell you that 2 Gestational Sacs were seen, not yolk sacs? Gestational sacs can be seen in the 4th week of pregnancy. Two gestational sacs would indicate a twin pregnancy. The fetal pole cannot be seen until the 6th week.
"The gestational sac is the earliest sonographic finding in pregnancy.....While a gestational sac is sometimes seen as early as during the 4th week of gestation, it may not be seen until the end of the 5th week.....The yolk sac first appears during the fifth week of pregnancy....A mass of fetal cells, separate from the yolk sac, first becomes apparent on transvaginal ultrasound just after the 6th week of gestation...Twins and other multiple gestations can usually be identified fairly early in pregnancy. They may be seen with two separate gestational sacs (diamniotic, dichorionic twins). They may be seen as two fetal poles occupying the same gestational sac (monochorionic twins)."

its the hormone levels. if they are up really high it can be assumed that there is more than one baby. My friend and her husband werre on fertility drugs and when she went to the doc they said her hormone levels were so high there were at least 2 in there for sure. after her ultrasound they found out there were 3.

If the doctor said it's twins, then it's most likely twins. they tell this by not only the ultra sound picture, but by the heart beats. If there are 2 heart beats, there are twins. :)
