I dabble!

Help out serving breakfast at soup kitchens a couple weekends a month, afterschool mentor program at a local elementary school once a week, I used to volunteer at a nursing home until my grandmother passed, haven't really been able to go into one since! donate to the childrens hospital every month!

I'm just looking for something new!! Thought I'd get some ideas!!

I feel I must overcompensate for the lack of help I provide being a financial reporter!

Yes, through my church, and various activities that my 3 year old can do. I believe that it is important to teach children to help themselves and to help others. My daughter is on the same savings plan as I am-- 10% goes to charity, 10% is put away in the house for a rainy day, 60% goes into savings, and 20% can be spent for whatever and whenever. We both contribute every week to a cause, and even if it's only a little, it means a lot. I wish other parents (who had the time) would do the same thing. Maybe the future generations wouldn't be so selfish then. Sorry about the rant, but I feel very strongly about teaching the next generations to take care of others.

EDIT: To whomever gave Mackadoo a thumbs down, what is wrong with you? He volunteered for a cause he believes in. What right do you have to disrespect his charity work?

Edit: I didn't see her post or her thumbs down, so to add....To whomever gave PNAC a thumbs down, what is wrong with you? She volunteered for a cause she believes in. What right do you have to disrespect his charity work?

Yes. I volunteer with local horse organizations - Interior Horse Council, Interior Horsemen's Association, and 4-H. My involvement with all 3 groups is to ensure that local kids have safe, fun horse shows, trail rides, and clinics they can attend.

Good question!

No. Despite a desire to help out others, I find I'm just too selfish with my time. Also, my family has never been rich, living paycheck to paycheck. I believe I am where I am today thanks to my own efforts alone. So while I offer no help, I also ask for no help, and I hope that evens out.
