Reds fan of 46 years here. Yes, what a loser. The ownership says, they can't believe the natives aren't jumping for joy here. Why should we ? God, please, give us Marge back.

I'm not a Reds fan or a Baker fan, but you have to remember he did get the Giants to the playoffs before he went to the Cubs (and as far as that goes he got the Cubs to the NLCS in 2003). Taking those two teams where he did was no easy task, so he should get some respect for that. As far as Torre goes could the Reds even afford Torre IF he had been available at that time? Girardi may have been a good deal, but I'm not sure what his asking price is plus as I mentioned before Baker has shown he can get a team to the playoffs and even win a round or two with them.

Bison, we didn't have a pitching staff BEFORE! They play in a band box, so they can't get decent pitching to come here, so Baker can't ruin what's already spoiled.
Castellini was with the Cardinals. He's back home with a name manager, to put butts in the seats, trying to capture the magic that he had in St. Louis. Only problem is that Cincinnati is a piss-poor town in comparison for sports and the plan will continue to bleed red ink! 24k per game - give me a break, people.

i'm in Cincinnati, no longer NJ yet i be attentive to that Cincinnati became the 1st expert group, and joined MLB quickly after that's formation. Cincinnati is a huge baseball city, with a deep history, a great form of corridor of Famers, and a great fan base. that's fan section incorporates the southern a million/2 of Ohio, lots of Indiana, and Kentucky. desire this facilitates!

If Joe Torre didn't want to go back to the Yankees why would he want to manage the Reds for prbably even less money? Girardi and Torre would not want to go to the Reds to manage because they are horrible. They would probably want to go to a half-way decent team.

He led the Giants to the World Series in 2002.
He was five outs from taking the Cubs to the World Series in 2003.
He has won 1,162 games over 14 seasons as a major league manager.
He is a 3-time Manager of the Year (1993, 1997, 2000)
Yeah, I guess you're right; the guy's terrible. How about you give him his due?
