1) On a calculator you can use the y^x key to raise a number to a power. Enter the numbers in the following order:
72, y^x, (0.152, +/-) ,
you should get 0.5220.... as the answer.
2) using log base 10 = log , you can write
log (72)^(-0.152) = -0.152log72 using the fact that
the log of a number to a power equals the power times the log of the number.
now multiply (-0.152) x log72 = (-0.152)(1.8573320
= -0.2823145
So 72^(-0.152)= antilog(-02823145)
= 0.5220

With a calculator you type 72 {x^y}{-}0.152.
^ means raised to the power
72^(-0.152) can be written as (72^19)^(1/125)
It is still very difficult to do without a calculator. The practical way would be with log tables. You would use them to find log(72).
log(72^(-0.152)) = (-0.152) * log(72)
You would then lookup the number you get on the right side of this equation in the body of the log table to find its antilog.

An older way to do this would be to multiply the exponent by the log of 72, and then take the inverse log of the answer.
-0.152 X log 72 = -0.2823
10^(-0.2823) = 0.522
72^(-0.152) = 0.522
