I have a LAPTOP at work that can do that (DELL Latitude D800). But I am looking for a flat screen being able to display 1900x1200 native resolution that is not 24 inches and over. Is this a marketing decision from the companies?

I was going to say there's only so many LCD pixels they can fit in a small space, but one option for Dell Latitude D830 (successor to the D800) is a 15.4 inch monitor with 1920x1200 resolution.

So it must be marketing. I assume they decided anyone buying a non-portable monitor that resolution would want it big.

If possible, don't use VGA-- it's analog. With DVI / HDMI, which are digital, it's much easier for the video card to detect the widescreen modes the HDTV will support. If your LCD HDTV has an HDMI port, you should use a DVI-to-HDMI cable to connect your computer to it.
