I am a die hard Cleveland Indian fan, but I was a little confused about last night's game, if Manny Ramirez thought he hit a home run, then why did he stop at first base?

Because the ball bounced up like a HR but the umps called it still in play. Even the announcers weren't sure even after they replayed it 50 times so I don't know how someone can say Manny knew it wasn't a HR. I think it was. Why is it when a ball hits the foul pole it's a homerun but if it hits the top of the wall and hits the yellow line it's not. If it only hit the padding it wouldn't have shot up like that, it would have deadened the ball. The only way for the ball to shoot straight up like that is if it hit some of the wall, making it a homerun regardless of the yellow line. That's why Manny was confused..along with millions sitting at home who also got robbed of another history making Manny homerun!
Bud Selig has finally given the GMs the opportunity to discuss the possibility of INSTANT REPLAY in Baseball because of the horrible umpiring this year. Look at how many bad calls have changed the course of this offseason. The HR in the ROCKIES-PADRES game, not to mention Matt Holiday not tagging the plate on the winning run. This HR along with a couple other really bad calls in both the AL/NL DS & CS. I think it's time for Instant replay in big situations like these where it can change the whole complexion of a series.

Manny Ramirez is the type of person who loves to stare at how he hit the ball especially when he thinks it's a homerun. Therefore he doesn't go full hustle when he runs as he figures oh well that ball is out of the park. That's why he didn't get to at least second base due to the fact that the umpires said it wasn't a home run and therefore the ball was still in play. Had he continued to run he could have been tagged out.

He only stopped at first base when he realized that the ball was not ruled a home run. The whole time he was running to first base he was questioning the call...why was he questioning the call?....because the indians played the ball as if it wasn't a home run. If you watched it on tv he started to hold his hands up like he always does when he hits a homerun. The only reason he didn't end up on 2nd or 3rd even is because he thought it was gone. I know he should probably always run hard no matter what but he likes to admire his hrs. ....what can we say...

Because it wasn't call a homer by the umpire. If he started rounding the bases Cleveland would have tagged him out. It's not like football where you keep heading for the end zone to plead you case.

Because the umpires did not call it a home run and therefore the ball was still in play. If he hadn't stopped he could have been tagged out.

He should have been at second, but his slowness out of the box and down the first base line prevented that.

Because he stood and watched for a few seconds to see if it was a home run and he knew it wasn't so he ran only to first otherwise he could have been tagged out.

Because when Manny gets homeruns, he does his little "I'm a star!" trot that takes about 4 hours. So thats as far as he got.

Ugh. Manny.

Because he took forever and by the time he got to first base he saw the umpire didn't call it a home run.

He realized all of his admiration over his hit wasn't worth it when it wasn't ruled a HR. If his fatass had hustled like you're supposed to ANY time you hit the ball, he'd have been sitting on second.
