I am just a little worried... I am going to have to rethink the way I eat entirely. I don't eat a lot of junk, but A LOT of things have carbohydrates and I know how limited those are when you have gestational diabetes. Thanks for your answers!

I followed the directions for that day.. I was told to eat something light and starchy for breakfast 3 hours before drinking the glucose. However, I might have eaten something the night before.. maybe even late that would have elevated it. Thanks so much!

The same thing happened to me. I tested high and then had the three hour and it came back fine during my first pregnancy. During this pregnancy it came back fine. It can all depend on what you ate for dinner the night before. Even if you didnt eat 12 hours prior, it could still effect the test. Like the night before I had mine I had pasta and garlic break for dinner and pasta can make your sugar level very high.

I just went through this a few weeks ago. I failed my 1 hour -- but my 3 hour test was just fine. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that your results are the same. I too was stressed and slightly panicky -- nearly everything I eat has carbs. I had a large apple about 45 minutes before I drank the glucose for the 1 hour test -- I'm thinking maybe that caused my levels to be elevated. Before my 3 hour I fasted for approximately 12 hours -- I think the doctor recommended a minimum of 8.

I did. But I had splurged on a bowl of coco puffs and a bottle of pop before going in. I didn't expect them to test me at 20 weeks. I did watch what I ate before the 3 hour which was fine. I was also very worried about the diet because I eat mainly carbs and fruits it would have been a heck of a change. Try not to worry too much and good luck

In my first pregnancy I tested high on the first one and had to come back for the three hour test. The results the second time were normal. Just relax and try to eat right between now and then. Just because you test high on the first one does not mean you will test high the second time.

It happened to me a couple of weeks ago. I was put on a diet for 3 days and took the 3hr test. All I changed really was that I stopped drinking and eating sugars. Even though on my diet I was told I could have regular soda not the diet kind. I wasn't really restricted to eating or drinking anything though.

I actually just got home from taking my three hour this morning. That was rough! So I'm in the same boat you are right now, waiting to find out. I failed my one hour. I had eaten toast for breakfast that morning so I hope that had something to do with it.
My friend just got her results back from her three hour. She failed her one hour, but passed her three hour with flying colors. So...there is hope!

My best fried failed her one hour as was told it's VERY common! I barely passed the 1 hour.
Don't worry until you know for sure. Women with GD have babies everyday and they and their children are perfect.
Good Luck & Congrats!!

I failed my one hour test, my score was really high, 174 (I think).
I passed my 3 hour test.
Good luck and I hope everything goes well.
