WIC or Women, Infants and Children is available in every state. the qualifications are roughly the same and they depend solely on your family size and income. if you are currently pregnant, once you qualify and almost every woman does, you'll get milk, cheese, eggs, dry beans or peanut butter, juice and cereal. if you choose to breatsfeed after the baby is born then you get the same thing and around the time when the baby is 4-6 months of age, you'll recieve juice, and infant cereal like rice and oatmeal. if you choose to formula feed, then the baby recieves cans of formula for the first 4-6 months and then the juice and infant cereal are in addition to the cans of formula. to qualify now, you'll need to bring with you your ID, any pay stubs you might have from the last month or so, your apartment lease with your current rent amount on it or a rent payment slip and a piece of current mail. you'll also need to bring proof of pregnancy with you i.e.- a note from your doc stating how far along you are and when you estimated due date is. you'll be weighed and your finger will be pricked to measure how much iron is in your blood. you'll then see a nutritionist who will discuss nutrition with you and then you'll go to the waiting area and sign for your WIC checks. your WIC checks can only be used by you and up to 2 other people you choose to be your proxy's. as far as where the offices are, you'll have to look up Women, Infants, and Children in your phone book and call for directions and your appt. you can get WIC if you're married and it's for pregnant women, breastfeeding women and women with children under the age of 5. once a child reaches 5 yrs of age, they max outta the program. i have been married for 7 and a half years and both of my kids have been on WIC as well as myself. good luck!

You can look them up online to see if there is a WIC office close by. I know you have to be pregnant or have a child(ren) under 5 years old. It doesn't matter if you're married, it depends on the total income. I'm not working but my husband is and we're receiving WIC and have been since the week I found out I was pregnant. (I'm now 33 wks prego)

WIC is for low income women who are pregnant or have a child under the age of one. Different states have offices in different places but your local Family Services Office will hae a list of the locations. Each state varies on the income requirements for Medicaid. You will have to apply for this at the local Family Services Offices and bring proof of income with you when applying.

you can get wic and medicade at the social services department of your county. Ususally to qualify for wic (women, infants, childred) you are pregnant or nursing or a child. I have a few friends that are just college students and tried to get it and never have, you really have to be pregnant to qualify. Also, if you have medicaid, you qualify for wic.

as a note from the you wont get wic if you are married, thats not true. if your family income meets qualifications you do qualify. I am a full time student, and while my HUSBAND does work we are a low income family and we do recieve WIC and my son is on medicaid.

umm..yes you can still get WIC while you are married if you are my mom did. anyways you should see if you have a WIC office near by if not you could go to the nearest Health Deparment they will be able to give you more information on medicaid and WIC and they will also give you a proof or pregnancy if you need one. which you will when applying for medicaid and once you get approved for medicaid you just gotto show your medicaid card to WIC and apply for it. and if you havent received it yet then go back to the medicaid office and ask them to print you out a temporary one for now and they will. i had to do all that to not that long ago.

Look in your phone book..the full name for it is "Women, Infant and Children" you can find out from the qualifications. To get medicaid you can call your local department of social services. In the state of CT if you have State Insurance you automatically qualify for WIC.

Its going to depend on what state you are in as to what the qualifications are and what it is called. In SC it was called DHEC (Dept. of Health and enviromental control)... In oklahoma its called DHS (Dept. of Human services)... best thing to do is to call your countys health dept. Any time I have ever heard of someone getting on WIC you have to go to the Health Dept. I am sure though that if you are a single mother though and you are having a hard time financially, you will qualify for WIC and other assistance too and there is no shame in it at all! Good luck dear!

You can get WIC if you are pregnant or have a child under 5 and your household makes less than 150% of the federal poverty guidline.

Things vary a bit from state to state. I have attached a link showing the federal povery guidlines so that you can get an idea whether or not your family MIGHT be eligible.

The first answerer who said you can't get it if you are married is incorrect. Maritable status is irrelevant.
