These are pictures I took of a Spider in my apartment and I'm having trouble finding out what kind it is. This was taken in Southeast Florida if it helps. The best picture to look at in my opinion is Spider_10082007_000006 (http://www.flickr.com/photos/pulpmilos/1519805813/). Thanks.

I very much appreciate all the responses especially the ones that sound more honest and knowledgeable since for me this is a serious issue as this is the 2nd one I have killed in my apartment and I have many pets' and peoples' safety to insure. I hope I don't see one again but if I do I will try to capture or poison it and not instinctively smash the life out of it and take better pictures. Thanks again all and please continue to post any opinions with links or sources to back theories up.

Looks like a recluse to me. I was bit by a desert recluse in central California. Not a pretty thing. I had to have a hole cut in my arm to get rid of all the dead flesh, and other gross stuff !!! I hate spiders...and always have. Even before I was bit. Call a pest control person.

I completely agree with "I Am McLovin"...that looks very much like a Wolf Spider. It is not a Brown Recluse. I see this all the time and just because it is brown does not mean it is a Brown Recluse. Black does not mean a Black Widow.

Like I said that looks like a Wolf Spider, venomous but not dangerous. However, their bites can be quite painful.

There is another possibility. There are some Funnel Web Weavers, that look very much like Wolf Spiders just not quite as robust. They have large spinnerets that are not apparent on Wolf Spiders. Don't get these spider confused with the Funnel Weavers of Tasmania and Australia, they are of no relation, and are, like the Wolf Spider, not dangerous to humans.

It appears to be a "Wolf Spider" from the Lycosidae family. Some people have a minor reaction to their bite, but they are not considered poisonous. It does not appear to be a Brown Recluse.

The State of Florida has a nice web page on poisonous spiders in the state. The link is below.

Yeah that looks like a wolf spider the large incredible eye provides it away, a brown recluse isn't cumbersome like that and with regard to the size of one / 4, elongated abdomen, lighter in colour, long skinny legs and has a violin development on its back. Being interior the south wolf spider is all i'm able to think of of.

Ah the classic brown recluse vs wolf spider problem. I'm afraid I can't tell from the pictures you've posted for sure. If you are still able to get a good look at it's back, look for the "violin" pattern shown here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brown_recluse
If it has that, be VERY careful in dealing with it, or call for pest control.

It is NOT a brown recluse. It's some type of wolf spider. Too hard to ID without a clearer picture of the thorax region.

Ok, again! If a person posts a picture of a black spider, IT DOES NOT MEAN IT'S A BLACK WIDOW. If a person posts a picture of a brown spider, IT DOES NOT MEAN IT IS A BROWN RECLUSE.

Ok, carry on...

Anyway...it is a wolf spider. Notice how a brown recluses abdomen is significantly larger than its prosoma and more rounded. Also, it's prosoma is more rounded than a wolf spider's: http://images.encarta.msn.com/xrefmedia/sharemed/targets/images/pho/t025/T025838A.jsm

A wolf spider's abdomen is smaller than a brown recluses in relation to its prosoma, and it's prosoma is more squared off and elongated than a brown recluse's: http://images.whatsthatbug.com/images/rabid_wolf_spider.jpg

100% wolf spider.

Definitely not a recluse. Interesting 'head' section; the blocky shape reminds me of something but I can't think what. Let's put it down as some variety of wolf spider and let it go at that; if it bothers you, just scoop it into a jar and drop it outside.
