zorycar,
I'm a huge Eagles fan, but it's not very likely that they can go to the Super Bowl. The playoffs are a possibility, but this isn't a Super Bowl team. Now, there are a lot of extremely stupid comments on here....things like they have no defense & such. Those people have obviously not watched a single Eagles game or looked at a single stat line. They are probably the same people who think Chicago's defense is still good. Also the people that claim the Eagles can't run the ball obviously have no clue at all either, seeing as the Eagles are ranked in the top part of the league in rushing despite having a coach who hates to run. And the guy who thinks the Eagles got "Every call in every game" for 4 or 5 years has obviously huffed unimaginable amounts of airplane glue today. It's hard to beleive he's not in a coma right now. I don't know, maybe he's Rush Limbaugh Jr.
BUT, there are problems on this team. First and foremost is the fact that Andy Reid is doing a terrible job this year. If he would run the ball at least 40% of the time they would be fine (2-0 in games where he's done that & 0-3 in games where he hasn't) but he's too arrogant or stubborn to do it. Secondly, McNabb is just plain not 100% healthy and probably won't be all year. Finally, their Special Teams unit is very weak. They can turn their season around and make the playoffs, but I don't see a Super Bowl appearance being realistic.

I am an Eagles Fan and hope they can start to play as a team. I have been a little disappointed in the play of the O line and the Def is definitely gotten old and needs some help. The NFC is there for the taking and the Eagles still have a shot but they have got to get going this week, I don't trust that they can even beat the pathetic bears.

I wish/hope so...
why are people saying their defense is so bad? They are 5th in the league for both points and yards! Their D is playing better than it has in the past 5 years! And no running game to fall back on? What? They average 130 rushing yards a game! Not to mention they're averaging 4.89 ypc (2nd in the NFL).
The problem has been a combination of injuries and play calling. They are missing Dawkins (possibly their best defensive player and locker room leader), and Lito Sheppard has been out all season as well. On offense, their line has gotten banged up, and obviously Westbrook has missed some time.
Even with those injuries, they could win games if they would call plays smarter. I don't know what Andy Reid/Morhinweg are doing, but they NEED to run the ball more. Their receivers have not gotten open, and the line injuries have taken time away from McNabb (his lost mobility is also not helping). Those things combine to really hurt their offense. Their backup linemen cannot pass block very well, but they are all above average run blockers. If they were to pound the ball a little more, it would open up the playaction for McNabb, and hopefully it would let their receivers get open. This team has 1 great back (westbrook), one good back (Buckhalter), and 1 tough back who is developing (Hunt). If they ran the ball enough, they literally could put up 160+ rushing yards each game. Combine that with their surprising D, and you have the "old school" Eagles winning formula - Ball control.
They have had a surpringly tough schedule, only playing one team that has a losing record so far, and they were two muffed punts away from what would have been a decisive victory in Green Bay. They are only a game back from .500, and if they play well in their remaining division games, I can still see them snagging a wild card spot (the division title will go to the Cowboys unfortunately).

The Eagles will get worse before they get better. It will be several years and a new franchise QB before they can even sniff Super Bowl. Get used to it. The league gave them four or five years of the Eagles getting every call in every game to try and get McNabb a Super Bowl, but he blew his window of opportunity.

I doubt. The only way the Eagles will play in the Super Bowl is to get a good QB

Yeah, I think the Eagles are signed to play the half time show at this year's Superbowl.
