i just interviewed there as well. they should be calling you back in 1-2 days for orientation.. if not call them.

I think most background checks take about a week.
It depends on the job and the price the hiring company wants to pay. I had King Ranch in Texas get it back from California in 3 days with a hair strand drug test ( the most expensive most elaborate drug test) , while other companies like Alta Colleges took about a week.
It could take longer of the check is extensive as in a high dollar or confidential type position you are applying for.
For example, a back ground check with a federal job like for the airlines could take a week or more due to the heavy govt influence.

It comes back pretty quickly at Sears. Most likely, if you had two interviews, you are in. They will probably be contacting you by the end of next week to start.

It sounds like they must be doing a manual search of somekind like an onsite countywide criminal search which ensures accuracy but does sometimes take some time to return. It depends a lot on the jurisdiction.
