okay, Bad Religion and NOFX are still around, i get it. But...those bands suck.

Good punk is.
There are no more good punk bands coming out these days. Operation Ivy and the Dead Kennedys used to be where it was at. Even when Rancid and Anti-Flag showed up, it was amazing! But I haven't been to a good punk show in a few years. My last good one was Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards in 2005.
I want to go back to when punk wasn't about the clothing or the break-up/love songs.

I have been an avid Punk fan since 1978, but by 1988, there were no new Punk bands coming out. I began to listen to more and more Garage Rock and Prog Rock bands...
To many punks, it was not about the hair, piercings, or tattoos. It was about the music and the ideas. Only an idiot who never understood what Punk was about would say "The hair alone is reason enough for it to die" or Punk was the dumbest thing to be produced in the 20th century."

depends from what point of view u see it.
the punk movement as it evolved in the late 70's definetly is.
the bands that made it in the concience of men definetly aren't.
btw how can a mohican (or hower it's spelled) running around in the year 2007 be more than just facade. It's just like the goths running around as vampires, they're all missing the point.

Unfortunately, it is. Saying that punk is still alive is like saying that the hippie culture is still alive.
Punk going mainstream killed the punk culture even though there are still some cool punk rock bands around.

I wouldn't say dead, with bands like NoFX and Bad Religion still out there. But I would say its not reproducing.

It's been dead for well over a decade. Thank God for old cds and iPods. It can live on in the form of replays.
