Does anyone know an estimate of having a house built that is 2800 ft sqared? We would like to have 4 bedrooms on main floor, a small office, a dining room, living room, and kitchen (all 3 open), a bathroom and a half bath in master bedroom. A full finished basement with a small kitchen, furnace room, laundry room, storage room, bathroom, and small bedroom. All the rest is open. Any estimates would be great. Want to get some opinions before we go to a contractor.

I recently finished building a home and with out having specifics it is impossible to say. Things like how many corners will your house have, how many peaks in the roof will your home have. Quality of materials, types of flooring. These thing have little to do with the size but alot to do with costs. They may give you a quote on how much per square feet but that doesn't taken into account everything. If one contractor is used to building track homes he will have a different price than one used to building custom homes. .

Some advice would be not to have half bath in your master bedroom, have a full bath.

Just look at what houses in the area are being sold for. Look at new construction and you can get a pretty good guess at what it will cost you to build with a contractor. Typically a general contractor will get cost to build plus 10-20% of the final cost for his share. If a new construction house is costing 250k in your neighborhood, you will probably pay about that to construct one yourself. Unless you are your own general contractor...then you will save about 20%

Consider that you will be paying at least $120/sf, with the amenities you describe. Math tells me that you will be somewhat over $300K before you are done with this.
