Building homes?

Question

Does anyone know an estimate of having a house built that is 2800 ft sqared? We would like to have 4 bedrooms on main floor, a small office, a dining room, living room, and kitchen (all 3 open), a bathroom and a half bath in master bedroom. A full finished basement with a small kitchen, furnace room, laundry room, storage room, bathroom, and small bedroom. All the rest is open. Any estimates would be great. Want to get some opinions before we go to a contractor.

In Illinois price would go around 100-150 per sq ft

I only agree with one of these figures. Today, home building by a custom builder is a lost art and, should be carefully chosen from one of several contractor or, someone you know that is good and, honest.

I would say you've chosen a big home, I would guess about $125 to about $150.00 a square foot. Or, I would guess about $350,000.00 by the time you've finished.

This of course depends on the area. In the Northwest it would run maybe 250,000.00...South into California maybe one mill. if you live in the Midwest perhaps around 175 to 250 and around the East coast like New York or that area, the top prices.

Lowes or Home Depot should be able to give you a list of contractors get estimates talk to people ask for references from building inspectors and other contractors like plumbers electricians they work for several builders and can tell you who are beter than others prices very on lots of details an estimate is practically impossible with out blueprints good luck

South Carolina would run around $60 to $75 a sq ft. around $185,000 to $210,000

In my area of Oklahoma, the price to build is approx. $80.00 a square foot, which would equal $224,000.
