It was started by the Republican run congress, and had the new bill stuck to the original program and not modified it so much, then the President would have signed it. If Congress can redraft the bill and keep it closer to its original criteria then it will be signed.

What I really want to know is what the term S-CHIP is in reference to. S-CHIP? What do they do, put implants in these kids or something?

The Republicans started the program to provide care for the most needy of children, and rightfully the President used the power of veto to keep it from expanding into some kind of general social program.

You have that answer from above; My comment is, politicans
are bringing up under lying issues from the stock pile, to play
games because of 2008. They each are trying to make each other look the worst, Dems. knew this would be vetoed from the begining, because of the small print of loop holes that they
put in place. Watch C-Span TV to hear total truth.

Republicans.
Republicans want to renew the program. Democrats want to expand it beyond recognition to cover families who don't need it. More interestingly to cover 25 year old kids.
The Expansion should have been vetoed. Instead of wasting so much time with an over-ride vote everyone in their right mind knew would fail, the Democrats should have negotiated for a compromise.
But of course their definition of compromise is "We get what we want."
