I've been approached by a representative of this company with a job offer. Their buisiness model is somewhat unconventional (not that I have a problem with unconventional). They use what is called "multi-level marketing". I know enough about this buisiness model to know that some multi-level marketing companies are little more than pyramid schemes. However, I also know that not all multi-level marketing companies are pyramid schemes, and Amway was investigaved for it and cleared of it already by the FTC clear back in 1979. Here, almost 3 decades later, their buisiness is still alive and kicking, which is a good sign.

I know they are a legitamate buisiness, and their buisiness model is legal. But I do want to know if they are a good opportunity or not.

Has anyone out there had experience with them? Was it good or bad? And what exactly did you do for them? Any info, positive or negative, is welcome.

Thanks, and God bless!

In case you didn't figure it out, Quixtar and Amway are pretty much the same company. Amway was the predecessor company of Quixtar, but is still around. They are both owned and controlled by a company called Alticor, which also controlls the Access Buisiness Group.

Thanks for the answers so far! Let me add this request:

Does anyone have any company stats, history, etc; that they could refer me to? What about statistics concerning what people working with/for them have made? How many people have succeeded and how many haven't? Numbers are yummy, especially when they are easy to digest :D

Is it legal? Yes.

Will you make any money at it? No, probably not.

The success rate for all mlm's (including Quixtar) is miserable (less than 1%). Most people end up spending much more money than they make.

There is a secret within the Quixtar distributors that they don't want you to know. Most (75%-90%) of the money made by the people at the top of the pyramid, is made from the "tools" (DVDs, tapes, cds, seminars). Technically, these items are optional but you will be highly encouraged to by and attend. My guess as the person trying to sponsor you has already invited you to a "meeting" or seminar.

The biggest negative from joining Quixtar is all of your friends and family will start avoiding you like the plague. I guess this could be a "positive" for some people.....

Dateline did a story on Quixtar a few years ago. You can find it on the web.

Went to an Amway meeting some time ago, the presenters touted it as a great opportunity and gave examples of people making megabucks with the "system". I bought a few samples and the products were pretty good, however I didn't buy into their program because it looked like a pyramid scheme that required you to depend on the efforts of others to make any real money. I live in a small town and it seemed to me that I would run out of salespeople who would all be selling the same product and recruiting the same people to join up. Turns out I made the right decision since the people who tried to recruit me wound up filing for bankruptcy.

those human beings try to promote Amway products so that they make money from the quantity of sales they do. The accuaintenaces from some time previous has your telephone variety and calls you in basic terms to verify once you've an pastime in paying for this stuff.

They have been around for years and many people have given up on trying to make real money on it. I was in and dropped out. It finally turned into a buying club style because you have to miss the sales and buy stuff through them.
I am getting into a better no work thing with my wife.
Put the money in and just watch it grow.
Here is her site... right now it is in spanish but should open in English soon as she just started.

It is an MLM, that charges you to work for them.

It is not a Pyramid Scheme. You have a better chance to make money with a pyramid scheme.

Quixtar/Amway's success rate is only 1 in 25,000, or 0.004%, which means a failure rate of 99.996%.

Don't give them any money.
