You are correct in your analogy. But I have Native American ancestors where the reverse actually happened. One of my Cherokee ancestors attempted to rescue my 3rd great (African) grandmother out of slavery and he was captured and enslaved right along with her.

Ummmm....In my life time I have met less than a handful of Black / Native people. I have met thousands of Euro/ Natives although few have proof and almost all are either Cherokee or Cheyenne.
Personally I find it funny and a bit interesting that so many people want to be Native.
Reality is if you are truly Native American from any recognized tribe you can prove it and if you can't you are not.
So if your 7Th Great Grandma was 1/8Th Sioux you can go through the US department of Indian affairs and prove your claim. I recommend doing so.
After all who wouldn't be proud of their heritage no matter what it is?

Many slaves who fled went to native American communities so they could blend in, I supposes a little minglin took place.

A lot of us can trace our ancestry back to both Native American and Black and I have proof of both. I know I can and I'm very pale with blue eyes. Good luck. 2D

if you really want to get technical, most all of us can trace our heritage to native american ancestry as well as african american history.

yup the slaves and the indians were some sort of weird compadre in defense of the evil. and they often intermarried and had kids together. matter of fact there is a community in florida with black indians. cant remember their names now. too much interbreeding created that community. yup i just remembered the name. seminole indians
