I was on Forbes.com and I was looking at the most expensive houses. One of them was $165 million and had 29 rooms and 40 bathrooms. Why would it have 40 bathrooms?? Do people spend more time in the bathroom when they have a big house?

The house had 29 bedrooms and consisted of six individual buildings. We are talking about a lot of space and no one wants to walk a mile to get to a bathroom, especially if you paid $165 million to live there. When you are thinking about these big houses you might want to consider them like hotels.

Every bedroom probably has its own. The master may have two. But it’s mostly about entertaining. If you had 200 people come over, you’re still looking at a ratio of 5 people to every 1 toilet.

That house probably also has tens of thousands of square feet. Would you want to walk 3,000 or 4,000 feet to reach the can? That's getting close to a mile! You shouldn’t have to if you have that much money.

High end mansions are used by folks for entertainment purposes as well as living there part time. When you are entertaining large numbers of guests, you don't want them using personal bedroom baths for their convenience. Other bathrooms are conveniently located in other areas of the structure.
