We are going to las vegas in the next couple of weeks and my mother in law and I are interested in going to a spa. It will be a first for both of us. I was wondering which spas to try and which treatments you would reccomend?

Mirage Spa is good. I've been there many times and always came out feeling like a million bucks. Bellagio has one of the BEST spas in town with all kinds of services, mind you it is on the expensive side as are most things in LV these days. Check out the websites below.

For a first time spa goer I recommend the Royal Treatment Spa at the Excalibur. Don't let the tackiness of the casino deter you, the spa is simple and small and the service is great. I like the herbal wrap followed by an aromatherapy massage. There's also a jacuzzi and a sauna and a steam room.

I have also been to the Canyon Ranch SpaClub at the Venetian. I had a facial and a balneotherapy/massage treatment there last year. The Spa is beautiful and the treatments were great. It's a large spa and it was a little hard to navigate.

The spa at the Golden Nugget is absolutely the best! You pay the $20 entrance fee and there's a lounge with a nice window view of Fremont St. where you can hang out and read magazines and sip free healthy drinks and eat fruit. There are showers that have 8 different high-pressure jets that feel great. Plush robes and towels are provided, as are beauty supplies like combs, hairspray, razors, shaving cream, shampoos, soaps, colognes and such. There's a separate area for extra treamtents like facials, massages, and pedicures. I had the BEST relaxing time there when I got a great massage, I stayed in the spa probably an extra hour after I was done with the massage part.

I believe you do have to be a guest of the hotel to use the spa, but I'm not quite sure. But it's definitely worth checking into!

And as an answer to your last question...get as much treatment as you can both comfortably afford. If you have to choose one, I recommend a bodywrap/massage combination.

Check the website for the hotel you are staying at. That will tell you if they have a spa onsite, and list the services offered. The Bellagio has a beautiful spa, and the one at the Luxor is very nice as well. Many of the spas at hotels require you to be staying at that hotel. Also, ask for any spa/fitness center discounts when you make your reservations or check in. I usually get a 3 day discount for the fitness center, and use the workout machines, saunas & hot tubs.

Where are you staying? Most of the large hotels/casinos have an on-site spa...that would be the most convenient! Last thing i want to do after treatments is to go out in public...usually right to the room to keep the "feeling" as long as possible...relaxed like a bowl of jello...
I personally like a "hot stone" therapy (different spas call it different things) and the reflexology (foot/leg massage)
have fun! I'm jealous!
