I will be doing my Masters in Electrical engineering.

Both schools have what I want; now it’s up to me to just choose. So I was wondering, what’s the best place to study, raise a family, good reputation, and just a good school in a great environment?
I know they all can’t be perfect, but which school would you suggest?
Thank you for all your answers!

There are several things you have to consider here. Where do you live? Do you live in ND or MS? Out of state tuition at either of these schools costs about $5000.00 extra. Do you have scholarships to cover that? How much is it going to cost you to move to either place? Then you have to consider the weather. I went to college in Minot,ND. It was Minot State College at that time. I moved from FL to ND in August and left in November. It was 100 degrees when I arrived and -100 wind chill when I left 3 months later.Too much of a weather change for me so I moved to MS and went to MSU. I hear they have a wonderful engineering school. My daughter is a freshman at MSU now and loves it. She's majoring in education. It's $3716 to stay in the dorm at State. If you are a football fan, well, we don't have a really great team at State but we have super great team spirit. Mississippi has better weather, too. We don't have blizzards but we do have tornadoes In fact,.one touched down yesterday at the vet school on campus. No one was hurt and only a very little bit of damage. As for raising a family in the area, I raised mine about 30 miles from Starkville. They all turned out very good. There are drug problems and crime in the area but that's pretty much any where you go these days. Just teach your children right from wrong and they'll turn out just fine and they'll reach for the stars. There are good schools here. Starkville High has 1 of the best football teams in the state. I don't know if you are black or white or what ever. Doesn't really matter to me. Just thought this might be some info you might want to know. North Dakota has more whites. Mississippi has more blacks. That might be a deciding factor to some people. To compare the 2 schools, I imagine they are very similar. In my opinion, MSU is a more laid back school. If you were raised up north where it snows a lot, you may not like it down south. We don't get much snow and there is not as much of a change in seasons down here.Anyway, I hope that helps you some. Congratulations in getting this far with your education and keep up the good work. Even those of us who don't know you are wishing you the best. May God bless you.

Mississippi State is generally the better school, but the schools are pretty bad down there, so if you have children, you might avoid it. Keep in mind that if you are going there for a Master's degree, you will probably only be living there for two years, so I find it odd that you are quite so focused on family and environment unless you already have a family that you are going to have to move down there.
