Lots of folk don't care for me much and its probably because certain parts of me are abrasive and really not interested in friendship...yet, my own choosing of being a prik leaves me sad...since most people are jerks, I can't figure out why it bothers me so much.

i had people not like me because they claimed i was a b*tch. and in all reality i was..not because i thought it was cool but because i had no time for two faced people trying to be something they arent just to approve of others. then one day rolled around and i finally met someone who WASNT nice to me and but wasnt mean...she stayed to herself and i admired that about her. and most people want to be ''liked'' so if you dont give them that satisfaction they are most likely going to 'be jerks.' n wut not. but trust me... its not worth changing yourself for people who arent going to matter in the long run.

stay a prick.

I don't know how old you are but I have found the older I get, the less I care about what other people think. Interestingly, the less I care what people think about me, the more I care about people in general and am more empathetic towards them - funny, huh?
On a side note, it sounds like you are using the abrasion to protect yourself from the 'jerks' but are a sensitive soul inside. My answer isn't a quick fix but is about time and experience mellowing us out. Enjoy the journey!

You're being too sensitive over this. I used to be like you. I have always been more comfortable in a smaller group of friends of my choosing. It used to bother me if people didn't like me for some reason or another, but as I got older I realized their opinions really don't mean anything. I too find most people are miserable. Regardless of how poeple act or respond it is human nature to want some sorting of bonding with people even if they suck.

You're right most people are jerks, a lot of people don't like me either I sometimes come off as a ***** but really I'm not I just have my own opinion people who really know me love me. It bothers you because you really have a good heart, but people just annoy you. Just be yourself.

I think it's human nature to feel a lil upset when we know someone does'nt like us. I am guilty of feeling sad/upset/mad when I find out someone does not like me. On the outside I can act like I don't care and angry but deep inside I am upset and wondering why this person does'nt like me and whats wrong with me ??

It does and it doesn't. I pride myeslf on not caring what others think however, there have been a few times that it has reaaly bothered and even hurt me. I am true to myself first and foremost so you can take me as I am or leave me alone. You should me true to yourself too!

I think everyone has a need to be wanted in some respect.

I think your issue is more having to do with you and I get the impression that you don't particularly like yourself. Once you learn to be satisfied with who you are it will then cause a natural attraction.

I get you like at work I'm not friendly to everybody and sometimes that may look like I'm a stuck up but don't care I'm who I am and no one will change me. Don't let it bother if you don't want their friendship don't feel like you have to be nice. Be yourself and if they like it good if not too bad.

Contrary to what I try to convince myself, and that's that I don't care, it bothers me a lot when I know someone doesn't like me.
Why some people don't like me is obvious, I can be a little harsh in my response to people around me.
But what bothers me more, is trying to change myself to make people like me more. So I am who I am, I can't change nor do I want to.

Nope. Don't bother me at all. It's not like I have to like them back either. There's lots of other people out there.
