There are lots of good pubs to see the rugby, don't know about the formula 1 thought. For the rugby, go into the first big one you see, and ask if they show the formula 1.

we watched the match last week in the Mercantile (Dame street).. nice atmosphere and not too busy.
.the Bleeding Horse ( Harcourt street) is another good place, plenty of screens and good beer
