Actually I don't want any of the ones mentioned to be Yankee manager...........I heard they might try to bring Buck Showalter back (haven't a clue where he's been over the years since he was Yankee Manager)..........There are so many names being batted around but there's also a school of thought that it isn't over with Torre yet..........That's the one I'm rooting for, at least for the moment............CAT

If I was a Yankee fan, I'd personally want Girardi. I realize that Mattingly is a big fan favorite there in NYC, but that is the last job I would want a manager with no managing experience to take.

The top 2 obvious choices are Mattingly and Girardi, but I have a feeling it'll be Girardi in the end.

I predict Don Mattingly...since he's already a coach for them...and the Steinbrenners like keeping it in the Yankee family...possibly Valentine or Girardi, even though Gerardi said last night he hasn't been contacted...

Either Don Mattingly or Tony LaRussa.

I want someone who can light a fire to that team when necessary to keep them motivated.

As much as I still like Joe Torre, he did not light a fire under his team during the playoffs. He can't expect the team to ignite itself. There was no sense of urgency from that team. Cleveland came out hungry and took it from us. A team that we were 6-0 against in the regular season.

I'm leaning more towards Girardi because he actually has some managerial experience and he knows what to expect in New York.

Mattingly, and for below, teachers make enough. They work 5 hours a day once you take out their lunch and prep period and for only 180 days. Even if they make 30,000/year, that is over $33/hour. Plus, anyone with half a brain can be a teacher, it takes a special skill that not many have to be a ball player/manager, that is why they are paid a lot.

Torre was offered 5mil -- kinda hard to make ends meet on only five million dollars -- sheesh -- who care who will be the manager -- lets talk about teachers salaries
