Its not cameo or extra.

Its read as ca-li-fare but I don't know the actual spelling.

In modern film parlance there are essentially four "levels" of on-screen participation available in film.

Lead Role - Most lines and/or screen time.

Supporting Role - Neccessary character with lots of screen time and or lines.

Featured Role (Feature) - One or more lines or the exhibition of a special talent (dancers, surfers, etc.)

Extra - No discernable speach capture or special talent.

A Cameo is when a famous person appears on film, often as themselves or as an unrelated item (Bela Lugosi in "Plan Nine from Outer Space", Steven King and Stan Lee in virtually every King novel-turned-movie or marvel-comic-turned-movie, respectively, or David Hasselhoff in "The Spongebob Squarepants Movie", etc.)

I don't recall (nor can I find) any terms phonically similar to "ca-li-fare", sorry.

There are one or 2, yet whilst the character has some lines, i might say "minor function". Extras under no circumstances have something to declare different than, now and back"rhubarb, rhubarb" in a noisy crowd scene.

Cameo maybe.

Casual? This does not fit in with the second part of your question, though.
