Human Resource Management is the contemporary name for what used to be called Personnel Management. Until maybe twenty years ago, every company had a Personnel Office. Since that office now has many more responsibilities than it used to, it is now referred to as the Human Resources office. So it is basically the same thing.

They are actually the same thing. It all depends on what the firms called their department - Human Resources or Personnel. Human resources is the most used term and they deal with company personnel.

Hardly any difference but if there is any, it lies in the stage - HRM embraces both sourcing and managing the people; PM perhaps deals mainly with managing the personnel already recruited!
