I have a new graphics card:Nvidia GeForce 8500 GT.Can I run a S-video cable from the back of my graphics card to the front inputs to my TV and use it as a monitor?Do you have any tips or advise on hooking it up?Thanks-I'm learning.

Yes.

But S-Video will give you 640 by 480 interlaced.

Also CRT based TVs tend to have a far worse image quality than even the cheapest PC specific monitors.

Yes you can but it will look awful since the resolution will be a maximum of 480p.
If you have a HDTV use vga, dvi or hdmi to get the resolution higher.

Yup, you just need a cable. Ask 4 it in a cp store.

Sure can. Advice.. you sound like you figured it out already.

Don't expect it to look good unless you have an LCD or plasma though.

yes, but the resolution of your tv is much lower so nothing will be crisp, everything will be blurry and it will probably hurt your eyes.

I'm pretty sure you can.
There is a cord that connnets your computer to your tv.
If you find the name of it tell me I'm looking for one.
