I am an MBA aspirant and have a good techincal background and currently working as a software professional in the US, i have always been fascinated by forbes and the kind of research work they do. Can anybody tell me how i can leverage my chances of getting recruited by forbes by joining the universities that they visit for recruitment?

Ivies of course, but also "little Ivies" (they actually recruit MORE heavily from these)--such as Amherst and Williams.
