i'm not a bad parent, my wife has to work and it is only for one day out of the week i want to escape.

If you are lying in front of your in-laws and kids to go fishing, you are a troll.
I thought that grown men didn't act like 10 year old boys and lie to the adults in their life. I thought that honor, and chivalry were not dead.
Dont be a punk. Your kids become you. If you are this now, then when they are teens this is who they will be. They will happily lie to you and exploit you for their recreation and comfort.

It's good that you want to escape and go fishing, it's a GREAT sport, I love it.. but remember one thing, your wife might need a day to escape too.... will you be ok with that? She works and deals with the kids more and all... think about it ;)

why don't you think about taking the kids fishing with you? or going camping or something that involves them? the last thing they will probably want is for you to be out having great fun and them stuck with doing not an awful lot.
take some responsibility. if you go fishing-fine, but take the sprogs with you.

She might like having the children - older people are funny like that.
Why not tell her that you would like some time off to go fishing and ask her to look after them, 'cause if you lie when she finds out it's going to spoil your fishing for years to come.

As a good parent it is your responsibility to take care of your kids. Don't run away from your responsibilities making excuses. Stick on and don't try to be a good parent but be the best parent.

no wayu my dad did that 2 me im only 15 now and u have no idea how much it jursts wen u find out the truth dont be a bad dad becuz now i dont wnat anything to do with my dad even better would actually take the kids with you its great fun and i think my dad is a complete w****r dont do that to them they will end up hating u!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
