An orthopaedic or a rheumatologist. This is their line of specialty.. If you go to a GP, and they can't really be that sure of your exact diagnosis, then they'll still refer you to either an orthpaedic or a rhematologist depending on your associated symptoms...
on the other hand, neurologist can be an option too.. coz sciatic nerve is one of the main nerve in your back which could be a primary symptom of a more serious nervous problems.. Good luck!!

I had terrible trouble with my sciatic nerve during and after both of my pregnancies and the best treatment I ever had was from a remedial masseur. One hour of remedial (or sports) massage and I'd be ready to go again.

A chiropractor! Since something is obviously out of allignment. Look for one with all the right credentials and ask around for who's gentle/or uses the activator method if you prefer.
Hope it feels better soon!
Geez how scary is that that people automatically jump to a surgeon or neurologist?!

I am kind of anti-doctor. I know a lot of good herbal and natural treatments for your sciatic nerve. Typically it is a potassium deficiancy. Soak the peel of a raw potato in water, and then drink the water. Not the best tasting, but it has more potassium than a dozen bananas. Try it... can't hurt you haha.

A Rheumatologist or a Neurologist. Most likely since it's a nerve problem, the latter would be the one to see. But if you have insurance, your pcp might have to refer you to one. Be sure to check.
