When I was 15, about 2 yrs ago, I signed up for a Wicca 101 class, i called my teacher, she asks me how old i was, i told her i was 15, she asks if my parents will allow me, to take classes. My mom will never let me practice witchcraft, she tries to stop me, then she gives up. So I said to her, She'll let me do anything that not involve drugs.
since her class doesnt have drugs, this is telling the truth, yet it's lying.
It's online, then i told mother I'm taking CPR classes.
Is this lying?
I'm sorry I want a degree so bad, If i get my 1st degree, that shows how experienced of a witch I am and i'm ready for the advanced stuff. Become a priestess
I'll be 18 in january,

I know it's bad, I was 15 and I didn't know what I was doing. I learned my lesson already after I find that Silver ravenwolf(Look at my profile) is a total fake, and reading her, just made me an embarassment of myself, I looked like a fool in front of other witches without realizing it.
I'm 17 now, I'm gunna change and I want to start over. I want to thank the other witches and wiccans for opening my eyes and letting me see the real truth about wicca and witchcraft, it's not all candy and chocolate or ponyish stuff, It's something that should be taken very seriously. If it werent for you all on YA, I'd still look like an idiot and say or do something completely embarassing.
Your right I was way too impatient back then, I'm even impatient now, All I ever wanted to do was learn. Gain knowledge about the craft, I thought that getting degrees says that. you're not a newbie anymore and your ready to learn more advanced stuff.

No matter how you look at this, it's lying. It's better to be honest with your mother than to hide things behind her back. Just tell her the truth, tell her how you feel and I'm sure she will respect you for it. Lying is like cheating and you know what they say about cheaters, they never win. whether you agree with your mother or not, she is only looking out for your best interest. Generally in most cases parents know best. You should listen to what your mother has to say about practicing witchcraft. If you do not know what you are doing you could get hurt. There are a lot of other professions out there you could try. However, it's your life and you have a right to do what ever you want. Just don't lie your way through life to do it.

Wow!!! So many good answers!
In one of your most recent posts you said that you thought that using the term "witch" and "Wiccan" interchangeably pissed us off. Well hon, not so. What does bother me is any sort of dishonesty. As you can see, Witches DO NOT like deciet!!
You are aware that I have been a practicing witch for over 40 years. By the time I was your age I was fairly established, beginning my journey down this path when I was 13. But had the patience to wait several years befor ever casting spells, I felt it was more important to know the history and workings of my path. I have no degree , honestly I am not sure what one even says. If you are a witch, you are a witdh and you do not need a degree to say so! As amother has said degrees don't make Priestesses, experience, wisdom and knowledge do. I am a HP in my own right. As a solitary you have no ones rules to follow but your own. But if getting that degree is so important, do it honestly, with integrity. I know you are impatient, but you will be 18 very soon. Are you going to be this impatient when your spells don't work immediatly? Sometimes they take a long time to come to fruition. As a matter of fact, I don't think there are any instant spells. Why don't you spend quality time with yourself, teach yourself? You do not have to have someone hold your hand. You need to do for yourself.
Degrees really don't show experience, experience shows itself.
The only person I have ever seen that thought deception was OK was Ravenwolf. Enough said.

To put it simply, all you have done is lied.
If you had any respect for Wiccan ethics, you wouldn't have lied in the first place.
I read your other question, where you say that Silver RavenWolf "encourages kids to lie to their parents". So, are you using that as your excuse for lying to your mum and your teacher? Regardless of her 'universal' stance on Wicca, you should be able to think for yourself, and have known that lying was wrong.
Achieving the 1st degree is not the most important thing in the world ~ and just who is it you want to show it off to? It is not a 'recognised' qualification, and how do you know you are even being taught the real basic necessities of the Craft?
In fact, it sounds like you are far too immature to earn even the 1st degree, let alone move on to anything advanced. I would not like to work with a High Priestess who has your ethical values.
You can't always have what you want when you want it, and patience is a very important lesson in Wicca.
When I first became interested in Wicca at the age of 14, I talked to my mum, making clear the differences between Wicca and 'Witchcraft', and she actually used to pay for my Pagan Dawn subscription.
I would rather learn for myself than take internet lessons, or take as gospel any of the numerous 'Wicca / Witch' books that are out there. The majority of these books have been written by people jumping on the New Age bandwagon, and aimed at the impressionable teenage market.
What you must do now is admit that you lied, and apologise to your mum and your teacher.
Don't be suprised if your teacher throws you out of the class, and your mum loses trust in you, because that is no more than you deserve for behaving so selfishly irresponsibly.

When someone is a Wiccan it doesn't mean they practice any witchcraft at all. Wiccan is a religion which basically worships nature. A wiccan can practice witchcraft if they wish, but it isn't part of the religion and if a Wiccan were to practice witchcraft they would still have to abide by the Wiccan Reed. "Eight words and the Wiccan Reed fullfill, and it harm none do as you will." It's all about peace so the idea that Wiccans practice evil is a lie. Witchcraft isn't even part of the religion, but several Wiccans choose to practice magic. If someone practices magic in the name of evil and calls themselves a Wiccan than they aren't a true Wiccan, but a hypocrite. I hope I helped :) There are a lot of misconceptions about Wicca.

This follows up the answer I gave to your follow up question. Getting a 1st degree does NOT show that you are an experienced Wiccan or witch. Nor does it show you are ready for advanced stuff. There are plenty of very advanced people who have no initiations or degrees, and there are groups out there that hand out degrees in return for very little effort.
it also certainly doesn't indicate your capability to be a preistess. "Priestess" is a role within a community. How can that even be addressed online?
If you want a spirituality, just keep studying and practicing and learning. If you want titles, you're not doing this for the right reason. And if you think titles will somehow improve your spirituality, you are confused.

It is probably inappropriate to be deceitful with your parents about what you are doing. It is, of course, also inappropriate for your parents to attempt to use their legitimate parental authority to coerce you to believe as they do or deny you the chance to learn on your own.
Some things to consider:
(1) On-line Wiccan teaching is generally very poor in quality regardless of the capacity of the teacher. Some experiences require personal contact, presence, guidance that can't be conveyed by e-mail. You may need a different teaching situation anyway.
(2) You will be of age in a few months. You are unwise to start down a dedicatory pathway on a foundation of lies to your teacher and your parents. This does not augur well for your learning process. Better to wait.
(3) Since you are interested in online education, I see no real difference between that and continuing to study on your own in solitary mode using books and observation of nature. When you are a little older, you can seek out a real teacher, in person, to begin your formal training, if that is your chosen Path.
(4) A first degree initiation doesn't show anything. It is something, or it is nothing, but it shows nothing, and it is not designed to impress others or open doors to others' esteem. Perhaps you are still too young, even turning 18, to begin serious study toward the First Degree initiation. I have initiated some Firsts myself as their teacher, but never anyone younger than late 20s/early 30s. Maybe it's time to get some experience and study on your own, or find a spiritual mentor.
The Wiccan Path is a lifelong journey. It is not a race, and you needn't fear that you'll miss some essential experience of priestesshood if you are the old-hag age of 19 before initiation. If this Path is for you, not only will the barriers to pursuing it come down, but you will be drawn into it, almost inexorably, as the product of many decisions in your life.
Blessed be.

You're young and you can wait.
It's selfish to lie, knowing that the person who will suffer for it is not you if you're caught, but the person who taught you and accepted your word. I would suggest you take a serious look at some classes in ethics, before you try Wicca. Personal integrity should be paramount to a witch. Your impatience has caused you to act unethically, and shows a lack of self-control that is not suitable for the kind of focus needed for witchcraft. You need to grow up and take Wicca and personal responsibility seriously before you do anything else.

You can wait.
I was a very young priestess. I became a Priestess at 21, and a High Priestess at 31, and only started before 18 because I had FULL PARENTAL CONSENT. There is no race to priestess, and if you think getting made a priestess SOONER makes you a better priestess, you're dead wrong. In retrospect, I would'nt have placed me into leadership at 21. I wasn't emotionally ready.
You need to come clean to the teacher you scammed, and realize that the experience you gained under false pretenses doesn't count at all.
If I were your teacher, I'd make you wait as long after 18 as you lied before 18 before even touching you as a student.
A lie is a lie, and if you lied to your teacher about your age, what else did you lie about?

This is actually very insensitive of you. You are placing your teacher in great legal danger. Parents are still the primary responsible party for their children's' education and spiritual development--not a school. For this reason, if a school teaches something to a child (minor) that the parents are not in support of, they can actually sue the school.
So you want to attain your first degree. What you WANT is really not an issue. You are a minor and not legally mature enough to make your own decisions. That is why you can not vote. That is why you can not sign a contract. You are a child in the eyes of the law. Any degree that you earn through your deception is not worth the paper it is printed upon.

Yes, you're lying, both times. You lie by omission and you lie directly. Congratulations--your religion is now based on you choosing to lie. You have made lying the basis of your spirituality. What kind of future do you think that will end up giving you? It was so easy to tell these "little" lies at the beginning. Then there will be more easy "little" lies. Then the easy lies won't be so little, since you will have associated your religion with lying in the first place. You have chosen to make intentional lying the foundation of your spiritual life. Is that what you want the rest of your life to be, based on lies?
