Will it have an impact on the decision of A-Rod to opt out of his contract, one way or another? Also, the decision to opt out has to occur within 10 days after the end of the world series, will it be important for the Yankees to identify a manager so that A-Rod can take that into consideration?

I think that Torre leaving is going to play a huge part in a lot of personnel issues. First is A-Rod, he may very well want to knkow what direction they are leaning before making his decision. If they are going with someone who he feels is not right then he will definitely go for money elsewhere, I think if his agent has his way A-Rod will opt out no matter what. Next issue will be someof the older guys, Rivera and Posada; do they want to resign if there is a big shakeup in the coaching staff? Probably not, Rivera will get big money from some smaller market team looking to make a splash. Posada on the other hand may go to a competitor who is looking for a catcher, possibly across town. This decision to move on will have implication son the whole roster. I think that it was needed but what do I know, I think that in todays game a Managers message gets lost after a certain length of time, I have thought that about Torre for three years now, I think it may be good to get a new person in there...I feel sorry for that person though, whether it is Girardi or Mattingly...they have to follow a legend in the biggest spotlight.

I say when it is all said and done we are looking at a vastly differnt Yankee team next year and that may not be a bad thing for Yankee fans. They do need to resign Posada though, they have no one to fill his shoes. Rivera is not getting it done any longer let him go but resign the Catcher!

Arod and Torre didn't have the best relationship up to this year when they mended it a bit. If Arod really wants to be a Yankee, he won't opt out and will get an extension. If he never really cared abotu the Yanks, he will opt out and end up somewhere else. Torre I don't think has anything to do with it. Torre did bat him 8th in the 2006 post season. That is a slap in the face.

I don't think Torre's absence will have any effect on what A-Rod decides to do. Show him the money and he'll stick around. After all, that's what it's really about for most players. Not to mention his agent is Scott Boras and we all know he's the greediest. I honestly don't think the Yankees are hell-bent on keeping A-Rod around, so I think a better offer may come from LA or Boston.
