At a glance right now: I see: An orange gatorade cap, VPN token, 2 mini-flat head screw drivers, blank cds, lottery tickets, cheap pair of sunglasses, 2 lollipops, bag of stale pretzels, two staplers, one empty bottle of deer park water, 2 coffee mugs, digital camera (elph), pieces of paper with stuff I've written on them (who knows), AA Batteries, credit card statements,. and it's all a big mess...

Who knows? But it would be fun to make up a psychological profile of you based on your desk. Let's see... I would say that you are a perfectionist, deeply concerned with your performance, as evidenced by the coffee mugs, (not one but) two staplers, empty water bottle, gatorade cap, food and candy. You obvioulsly spend a lot of time working at your computer and need to refuel a lot. Also, I can tell that you have separation anxiety because you have trouble parting with trash. You are very inquisative and operate primarily from your left brain. You must have taken apart the camera with the screwdrivers to see how it works and taken notes on the paper. The lotto tickets and credit card statements reveal that you are reckless with money and are waiting for your ship to come in. ...just the fact that you listed EVERY ITEM on your desk...is a little.... out there...
messiness is a reflecton of your personality.
I know orange is a symbol of creativity and ambition.
blank cds , stale pretzels, lottery tickets, cheap sunglasses, and empty bottles can reflect lack of ambition...
uhm.. the other stuff is just.. messy..
i don't know if thats the answer your looking for..
i think its just a very confusing question to me..
everything we do can reflect our persoanlity... and everything we own can reflect it to.. but i must say.. you have the most random items on your desk

i think it depends on the person. my desk is usually relatively neat, but my mind not so much (i try to be organized mentally but find it easier to do if my desk is organized). on the other hand, i had a colleague whose desk was almost scary (i could never find something in her drawer if i needed to) and she was actually quite organized internally and very bright. so - go figure!
