There's just as many "crazy racist people" among the black population as there is among the white population. Like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton - who perpetuate racism as a means to expanding their own wealth and notoriety while keeping the same people they are supposedly helping remain impoverished. Obama's life would not be in any more danger than anyone else elected President in 2008.

I don't think his life would be in danger because of racists.

If that were to be the case, the virgin, condi rice would have certainly been attacked by now.

The ones I worry about attacking President Obama would be republicans who have the money to hire hit-men, and orchestrate assassintations.

I agree with the one who said it won't matter because he won't win, as the nation is so racist, they'd rather die than have a black man in the WHITE house. But, if in some alternate universe, he did get elected, double the secret service and he should buy then all dinner once a month.

The position of President of the United States is dangerous simply because lots of people want to assasinate you, regardless of your race, creed or gender.

Consider that they tried to kill Reagan (a rich old white man), and DID kill Lincoln (arguably the best President the country ever had).

I'm sure he will be but I also know our Secret service will protect him. Look at George Bush, the most hated President at home and abroad ever in the history of the United States and he is still kicking.

Being the prsident is not a particularly safe job for anyone. That is why there is a Secret Sertvice and they are always around when the president moves about.

I think that anybody who seeks a political office runs that risk, whether they are running for President of the United States or local dog catcher. It's just one of the risks you take on when you throw your hat in any ring, and for me, neither race nor gender factor in that as much as everyone else might suggest.

No, no more than any other candidate. I don't think there are "a lot of crazy racist people" there are a handful of crazy people.
