Definately a great writer, a good singer but as far as a great musician I wouldn't say that.

Probably all 3, because he wrote so many songs and so many different singers recorded his songs, like Alan Jackson did "Little Bitty"...Daryl Dodd did the song "That's how I Got to Memphis" Keith Whitley did the song "I Flew Over Our House Last Night" ..........Jennie C. Riley did "Harper Valley P T A" just to name a few.He recorded 27 albums in his career. But the only place I have ever seen all of them at one time was at his brothers house!

hi is a great picker and does relatively nicely making a song on some songs. i like to take heed to him play "Malaguena" some would possibly no longer know it yet Roy sang "the day previous to this while i replaced into youthful" on the funeral of the mythical baseball participant Mickey Mantle.
