If the electoral votes just override our decision??

For your information.....I did and DO vote. Bush did not win by popular vote, he only won by electoral. So if our votes really did count as much as you all say it does....he would not be our president right now. And since i did vote, i have every right to say whatever i want about this!

Not correct. The electoral votes are based on the way the people in a particular state vote.

Since most states use their electoral votes in an "all or nothing" manner, your single vote could be the one that creates a simple majority for your favorite candidate and swings all of your state's electoral votes to that candidate.

I've always believed that whether my candidate wins or loses, simply by voting for him or her, I have done my part in the political process.
I liken it to jury duty and the best explanation I've ever seen of that was in the book To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. The character Atticus Finch was explaining to his children about it:
"Serving on a jury forces a man to make up his mind and declare himself about something. Men don't like to do that. Sometimes it's unpleasant."
I believe this applies to the political process as well, for many be the time when I've voted for one candidate over another as "the lesser of the two necessary evils."

Actually, the electoral vote has been outlived it's usefulness. We should be counting the popular vote now. If that were the case, King george would not be President today.

a big part of our problems today started with people like you
maybe you should start with reading the newspaper or listening to the news....reality is that Mr.Bush has turned the world upside down and you and the other people that didn't vote are the reason why..we are a hated country now..your vote could help to correct that ....do your home work..vote for the person that will help this country the most..forget party lines vote the person

all politics is local, so stop thinking about the Presidential elections and start learning about who actually makes the laws that affect you every day
(clue: visit your local city hall)

and yes, when you vote for the people who actually make the laws that affect you every day, your vote counts
