I hope so.....play a patsy, shedule, then go around bragging that you are #1, just cause the teams that were ahead of you actuall tried to EARN their ranking. Don't get me wrong...I think Tressel is a great coach...the Defense looks good, but the offense, I'm not sold on. The One time this season they face a decent defense (Purdue...and note I said decent, not great...Boeckman throws 3 interceptions.)
The other games...they should have dominated. Do you reward a team for beating teams they should? Kent, Akron, YOungstown?,,,Please..... I would respect their ranking...like I did last season, if they would just EARN it. The only two decent teams on the whole schedule are Penn and Michigan...and both are shadows of their former self.
Or to put it another way...If my poor , Benighted, pathetic, Fighting Irish (and I would agree they suck) played that schedule...they would go 8-4 this season...losing to Purdue, Penn, Michigan St and Michigan. that is a weak schedule.

* I think my favorite stupid comment is how often people defend Boeckmans picks against Purdue...."they may as well have been Punts".....yeah, on first or Second down.....that makes a lot of sense......trying to make it sound like they were planned. Do you have any idea how truly stupid that sounds? Dude went long looking for scores, and got picked. End of story. The simple fact Purdue had a wildly overrated Offense is why it didnt bite you in the butt. Next stupid defense, please?

*Sean...it would be hard to schedule the previous years top 5...since these shedules are made up many, many years in advance. I'd be happy to see teams schedule just 2 of the perrenial contenders....

I am a fan of the Buckeyes. However, I agree they have a weak schedule. Which is why we need a playoff system in the NCAA.

Well, if these #1 teams are so awesome why are they getting defeated by un-ranked teams, teams in which they were heavily favored etc...
Don't say LSU is so tough when they lose to #17 Kentucky. Don't say you try to be #1 and lose. USC lost to an unranked Stanford team when favored by 40+ points, that's not trying to be #1. South Florida lost to an un-ranked Rutgers team, that's not being #1
If you want to be #1, you need to run the table, not TRY to run the table. When you lose, admit the loss and move on.
Ohio State RAN the table last year, they were #1 and won their games and did what was expected of them. They have done that this year as well. If they suck so bad, why have they not lost? Schedules, yes they are week this year. Some of that has to do with the fact they were not expected to have a good season, well they are. They are beating teams the way they are supposed to be, no close calls.
Schedules? Try to be #1?
How many times has LSU played the #2 team this year? OSU played the #2 team 3 times. Over half their schedule was against ranked teams last year..THAT is a #1 team.
If your team loses, they don't deserve to be #1, it's a simple as that. OSU has moved up the ladder, they started at #11...don't blame them for winning and passing all the teams that TRY to be #1.

How exactly does beating the crap out of bad teams make your team bad? They beat every team in front of them. That's something nobody else in college football except BC and Hawaii can claim.
Like every team in NCAA football, they scheduled one good out of conference team to play (check every other top team's schedule, I dare you), and that team turned out to be a dud. Not their fault.
And if you watched the OSU-Purdue game, you'd have seen that those 3 picks came on bombs, and might as well have been punts. They completely shut down an offense averaging 500 yards a game until a last minute TD when they game was put away.
You people need to stop being so bitter and posting your ridiculous arguments of why Ohio State will lose. They will not lose just because they've had a weak schedule so far. They will not lose just because other top teams have lost. And they will not lose because you want your loser team to get into the championship and think it's no fair that Ohio State is, and likely will stay, undefeated.

Ohio State has Penn State and Michigan, they don't win both of those games. South Florida has lost, and if LSU or Oklahoma finish with one loss, they'll definitely surpass South Florida. Boston College probably will lose to Virginia Tech. And USC still has to play Cal, Oregon, and Arizona State. At VERY BEST they'll get two out of three of those games, but more like 0-1 out of 3. All of the highly ranked teams who have been playing these no name opponents have their schedules toughen in a critical part of the season. I think its OU and LSU left standing when it's all said and done because both schools have to win an extra game to qualify for the National Championship/BCS

I think that most of the people on here would fit nicely into the saying "the pot calling the kettle black" because no team in a major conference goes out of their way to play any more than one team from another major conference aside from the odd cross-sectional rivalry like USC-Notre Dame, or Michigan-Notre Dame or something like that. OSU played at Washington, next year they go to USC, the past two years they have played Texas. Mich St, Mich, Fla, LSU, everybody plays mostly easily winnable games for a majority of their non-conference schedule, it just makes sense as you are going to be facing rivals for the rest of the time so you work in your inexperienced guys against crappy school in order to be prepared for the season. Name the team that goes out and schedules the previous year's top five as their non-conference schedule.

I would have been happy for them if they had moved up to the #5-6 position. Tressell has done a great job after losing so many players. But to move them all the way to #1 with that schedule is a total joke. Now everyone hates them. Before losing to Oklahoma, Mizzou was undefeated and had road wins against the SEC and Big-10 and yet they could only move up to #11. That was a joke to have them back there and have OSU at #1.

I also hope they get beat. And honestly, I hope it's MSU that hands them the first lose. MSU will be the team the fans and media will write off (though not the team, I'll give Tressel that, he doesn't often overlook teams). A lose to MSU would really highlight the weakness of their schedule. It is a weak schedule and they've also gotten some breaks with higher ranked teams being picked off.
And to the guy who made the comment about OSU being quiet. The team is being quiet, but OSU fans are never quiet and often border on annoying if they don't jump right over the edge to obnoxious.

I agree with vegas matt, they won't lose this week...and they may make the schedule undefeated....but...if any team, like my Tigers, or OU,or any team, with a conference champ game is #2 in the BCS standings...OSU...will likely lose....again. Way too much time on their hands after the regular season. UF proved that last year.

Colonel: You just got demoted to Private. How can you compare Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Florida and Kentucky to Youngstown State, Akron, Kent State and Purdue? You need to go back to basic training.
Ohio State is a wannabe and will lose within the next two games.

im a big fan of OSU, so of course i'm going to disagree with everything your saying. however, i do think msu will be a good fight and it will be a pretty close game. the purdue game was terrible, curtis painter is terrible. on the other hand, michigan is doing terrible compared to their outstanding seasons, i dont think they will get too far. i also agree on the irish' schedule was pretty bad from the start.
