I had called them Tue. night because I was bleeding and they never said that I would experience that, they told me not to worry and it was normal and it would go away, so by 4:30 Wed. afternoon it had not gone away so Thurs. morning I went in for the Rhogam shot and as of then I was not bleeding anymore, however it started back up yesterday afternoon, stopped for awhile and now I have it back this morning.

I had my pap at about four weeks pregnant. (I wasn't aware then that I was pregnant) After my pap I bled for three days which was highly unusual for me. My OB said that since there's an increase of blood to the vaginal area during pregnancy it's completely normal to have bleeding after a pap. Mine was just like how you stated yours was. Brownish and with some red in it. If it continues or gets worse call your doctor. Mine went away by day 3. Good luck!!

A pap smear and an internal exam is part of your first visits work up to ensure everything is ok.
the bleeding might be a little more than at a usual pap smear since your uterus is getting more bloodflow. But depending on how much you are bleeding, only you can tell if it's actually too much.
If it doesn't stop I would call your doctor again.

Yeah, they always do it at your first visit to make sure you don't have uterine fibroids and also to rule anything out before the pregnancy continues, especially if you haven't had a yearly in a while. With my 2nd preg, I had brownish spotting when I was almost 7 weeks and I went in before my 1st scheduled appt and they did an ultrasound, and they did see the heartbeat. They told me that there was a small area of clotting and the bleeding would go away. They could actually see that on the ultrasound. They do say bleeding is normal for a couple of days. If you are concerned just go back to the doc for reassurance. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that!

I had a Pap smear at my first visit, at about 6 weeks. But I don't know anything about the rest of your question. Sorry! Good luck!

Yes I had a pap at my first prenatal visit but I didn't have any bleeding after. As far as the shot I thought it was given around 28 weeks. Well if your OB said not to worry you should be fine. Best wishes!

Yes! I had a papsmear last week at 8 weeks pregnant. I bled quite a bit!! My blood was bright red for the first day after the papsmear then it turned to dark brown and disappeared and I haven't bled since. I wasn't in any pain or anything. The doctor told me the bleeding was normal because my cervix was so sensitive due to pregnancy. After the papsmear they gave me the ultrasound and the babies heart was beating fine etc. so he told me not to worry about anything that the bleeding was normal and the baby was fine. I haven't worried about it. I'm sure you will be ok but if you are unsure or feel uncomfortable, call your dr. back for clarification.

The pap smear is to ensure that you have no abnormal cells (ie cancer). It is perfectly safe to do whilst pregnant because they only take cells from the outside of the cervix. It will not harm the baby in any way.

everyone has a pap at their first appointment, unless you refuse. I personally dont let them, i dont think its right to mess with the cervix when pregnant. For this very reason.
Its common to spot a little after, not bleed like a period.
I would call your doctor for more information.

I'd say that's definitely a question to call your doctor's office about, although it sounds like you already have been in again? If they gave you a Rhogam shot (which is what I'm assuming the shot was, right?), you must've already gone in a 2nd time?
Anyhow, I'd call them and give them an update, see what they have to say. Good luck!!

Hmm... I had a physical examination during my pregnancy and my nurse told me that if I see some bleeding that it was from her brushing the cervix and that it'd be normal... However you seem to be having to much bleeding... I'd contact my doctor right away and MAKE them talk to you... In the mean time, don't panic... it may not be a big deal.
