Who agrees with Joe Torre's decision to decline the 5 million dollar offer?

I don't agree with it at all! First off, he has said all along he's not with the Yankees for the money, he is there for the relationship he has with his players and the fans. Spoken like a true greedy pro athlete, "show me the money".

Secondly, how is that offer even remotely insulting. Lou Pinella is the second highest paid manager in the majors at $3.5 million. Torre was offered $5 million with a $1 million bonus for each level of the postseason. NY has a goal every year to win the World Series. They didn't do that in 7 years so this contract made sense. If the Yankees won the World Series next year, Torre would have made $8 million, which was more than he made last year. Look at Terry Francona, he makes $1.5 million!

Finally, Torre should have taken that one year deal because it was also a generous offer to let Torre be the last manager in old Yankee Stadium. Then they could have opened the new stadium in 2009 with a fresh start and new manager.

I do and I am happy he ended it on his own terms...The Yankees could have offered him more money and I think he would have turned it down...He always said when going to work is not fun anymore he will give it up. This season prooved to be the straw that broke the camels back!!

With all that the Yankees had to over come this year to even get to the playoffs and still have the season called a failure is HITTING BELOW THE BELT!!

I'm not a fan at all, but it was certainly the right decision.
After telling him that it's this series or the highway, then coming back with a contract that's 2/3 of his last one and making it more dependent on how deep they go into the playoffs.

They should do that with season tickets. Season tickets are $x and if we don't make it to the world series, you get 10% back, if you don't make it to the ALCS, you get 25% back and if they don't make the playoffs, you get 40% back.

Not a Yankee fan, but I am a huge Torre fan. He's the best in the biz. It's a slap in the face to offer someone as great and accomplished as Torre a paycut. I don't blame him. He needed to save some face in this situation.

I know this is going to get me lots of thumbs down, but oh well........Go Sox!!

They basical offered him an insulting contract. They knew he'd walk. It was designed that way. The Yankees don't lowball someone they really want to keep around. Think about it.

I believe Clemens will likely be in authorized battles with McNamee for a whilst, however the proof is overwhelming. Clemens will likely be indicted and more commonly convicted of perjury and/or obstruction of justice.

I do, I think they have expected too much from him, and he doesn't want to deal with that anymore, plus there are plenty of teams that would love to have Torre on their team.
