I really loved the job and for other things that I put for describing the job are catered special events, accomodated patrons and maintained sanitary environment. I also said that I was recognized for friendly and professional service.
How do I say that I interacted with the elderly and make it sound good on my resume?

I don't think justme really gets what the job was.... mostly the people working in the dining room aren't doing anything with medications, and certainly not taking orders from the doctor or organizing events. What they are doing is providing the ultimate of customer service - making sure people get the type of service they want at meals, day in, day out. If they feel comfortable, they are likely to eat better and stay healthier. I would point out on the resume that the job involves remembering personal meal-related preferences and needs for a large number of people with special dietary needs.

Are you sure you worked as a waitress? Would you be more
correct to have been called a "food server" instead? You
were one of the staff that placed plates of food on the dining
room tables for those retirees who were there to eat dinner
right. And you weren't getting tips or taking orders? At least
I assume everyone eats the same thing and doesn't have a
choice. But maybe they do. It's just at the one I worked at
in highschool and during that summer, everyone ate the
same as each other. Maybe those who are from a higher
income bracket at one of the more spendier homes, do
have a choice of menu.
So on your resume, you were a dining room server, and
an entertainment coordinator for special events, and you
were a practical nurse who assisted patrons perhaps. Or
just one of many smiling faces on staff who made the stay
of their patrons very enjoyable by accomodating them with
every service available!

"Events Manager". That is your title description. This included, dealing with special needs of the residents; you can expound on that. Ordered special medication, helping to sort out special travelling requirements and appointments with Doctors.Liaised on a regular basis, with the Department of Health. And was responsible for the administration of special dietary needs, at meal times, and helped wait on tables. Don't say you cleaned the toilets. Again, DON'T LIE either. Make it good, you may end up working for Donald! Seriously. Put a lot of thought into it. And good luck.

And a good letter of recommendation from your boss, if you have told him you are leaving. Was going to post a "funny" as well, but decided against it. There are good Resume sites on the Net as well.

That's a great idea or even a huggable side Teddy Bear with a bow around his neck would be nice. I once worked in a nursing home & on my first day, I noticed one of the female residents, hugging a stuffed cat a lot. I asked a co worker if there was a significance attached to that stuffed cat. She said the lady had to get rid of her cat before going into the nursing home. She lived alone & her cat was her world. I think your kindness will bring her many comforting days & nights.

Nutritional Assistant.

It was your job to see that each individual received the proper meal, and especially the special needs individuals such as diabetics or people with kidney problems.

Hmm. Well, you worked in nutrition delivery systems, event planning and hygiene evaluation and enforcement . You also initiated personal relations interaction, for which you were given special recognition.

Sounds pretty impressive to me.

Food service in an assisted living setting. Definitely leave out cranky waitress and coffee pot hoarder. ha

Don't use the word "waitress"

Mention that you forged wonderful friendships with ther esidents and assisted them in their day to day tasks.

Perhaps you could call it "Nutrition Assistant".....? Making sure the residents received their properly balanced, nutritional meals.
