Now Sir Ming Cambell has resigned http://www.libdems.org.uk/news/resignation-letter-by-sir-menzies-campbell.13283.html is there any point in voting for one of the three main parties? A
Afterall, we only have the following now available when we get to a General Election:-
A) The anally-retentive incumbent Prime Minister - who talks like an insurance claims assesor
B) Him that sounds for all the world like a double-glazing salesman - with his foot firmly entrenched in the door
and
C) Some yet to be announced 'wet behind the ears' child for the Liberal Democrats!
I suppose you can transfer your 'protest vote' to the environment mob or maybe even 'The Monster Raving Loony Party' - mind you, that's not what it was either now Screaming Lord Sutch is no longer with us - is it?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/371216.stm
Is there someone out there who's got the deposit at the next General Election for a new party:-

A party set up for disenfranchised. disheartened, all the 'dises' infact, normal, sane, common sense, 'call a spade a spade', 'seen it all before and bought the tee-shirt' type of voter please?

Stormy - In other words - ''your comments are noted'' - so we shall carry on with the 'military-industrial complex' as before and won't take a blind bit of notice of the people who DO infact vote for which ever mob gets in, because it's the Civil Service that runs things - REGARDLESS of who it is supposed to be running things in the name of - i.e. US!!!

Do you think we could get Klaatu and Gort to come back, before we destroy ourselves - I've kind of become rather fond of that Robot - I'm not sure about Keanu Reeves's forthcoming rendition of being Klaatu though - isn't he just a 'DUDE' http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970416/
Surely it would do us all good to hear we could have our planet ''reduced to a burnt out cinder'' - put us in our place it would - don't you think?

Can you imagine Brown, Cameron and as yet to be designated new 'wet-behind-the-ears' Liberal Democrat negotiating with Klaatu - I mean they'd have to learn English for a start wouldn't they - use words like 'yes' and 'no' instead of their normal obfuscation - the first answer expected by Klaatu requiring a 'yes' or 'no' - well he'd been handing over to Gort's raised eyelid wouldn't he?
That'd be good wouldn't it watch those muppets getting melted down to human jelly - shut their silly, pompous mouths up! Oh! What a treat that would be - don't you think?

DAVID F - I liked Maggie - she understood the rules of Darwin - God knows what she thinks of this present shower, but I do agree with you about the sacking of Charlie Kennedy and Ming Campbell - in a nutshell if they want the younger generations and I include myself at 47 within that description - then they must introduce 'text' voting forthwith - by the way renounce your membership of the Moral Coward Society i.e. no contact info!!!

The clue was in the question. Its a general election, not a presidential election, You aren't voting for David "Call me Dave" Cameron. You are voting for your local MP. Find out who your own candidates are and what they mean to you,

The 'Rich Tory Boy' is full of bluster as if he is still in the playground, what he tends to forget is, that Thatcher caused more trouble in the UK when she was at her nastiest, to keep the Tories OUT for not just 3 terms but 3 generations. The Liberal Democrats are in freefall after sacking two major figures in Charlie Kennedy and Ming Campbell... what are they for anyway... my grandfather used to say- quote "They are just Tory Wets". I have an interest in being a member of the ruling party.. the important thing is to vote, vote, vote all the time.

Vote UKIP - problem solved. That is if national parliaments haven't been dissolved and abolished before the next election, a possibility that cannot be overlooked ( and the reason why the politicians don't care about the public any more because they will have cushy jobs in Europe guaranteed and they won't be able to be voted out of any parliament again)

The only thing we can be sure of by voting is that whoever gets in will make dozens of promises beforehand and are likely to keep very few, if any.
Also those who need the help the most will as usual end up subsidising those who need it the least.
The rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer.
The sick will ge sicker.
Crime will increase.
Etc, etc.
I believe we should all vote for the person/party who we think will do us the least damage, not the party who will do us the most good, because there simply ain't any. 60 years experience has taught me this.
I also believe we should all vote, because that gives us the entitlement to complain.

Abstain!!
his does not mean do not vote.
Go to the polling station and on your ballot paper write or attach exactly why you feel you cannot vote for the any of the candidates. The returninig officer must read out what yoou write.
www.abstain05.co.uk - same rules apply.
Government is the servant of a country - not its master.

If everyone who didn't bother to vote voted instead for your party (if you started one), you would easily win.
Ther is no point complaining there is nobody to vote for then not voting as it apathy of people like you that causes the 3 bland parties we have.
As for the deposit, you get it back when you get more than 500 (I think) votes.

In almost every seat at the general election there are independent candidates - if you bump into one and like them why not vote for them?
Your vote is one of the most important things that you have - please use it. I vote in each election (national/ local). My constituency is a solid Labour seat but there are sufficient people who DONT vote who could elect any political party to power if they did.

Vote for Gordy! He may not have the charisma of Tony but he's much better! Look at him pulling troops out of the war during his first week as PM.

That's your choice, but if you don't vote please don't complain about the government on here for the next four years, cos if you don't want to know then neither do we!
