Because whilst education cures some ignorances there are people who will never be educated. It's disgusting and stone age way of thinking. Unfortunately the adults pass this way of thinking on to their children and then it starts the ignorance for another generation.

jc - a perfect example of the ignorance i am talking about

AJ you are right they do! I am in a mixed race relationship, the worst I get is when I take my partner's children out (without him) say to the park, where other parents glare at me as if to say, "well you are not their mother are you".

You'd think in London in 2007 things would be different but they're not!

Becasue we live among idiots.

Before I met my wife, all the other girlfriends I had were white. And just about every time, especially from black women, someone would mutter something under their breath. I've almost gotten into a couple of scuffles because of this...

That is a good question. I have been in a couple of mixed race relationships and I remember noticing all of the people staring at us. It never really bothered me though. They were both big beautiful award winning body builders, so I just figured people were admiring them.

1. maybe you're being a little bit paranoid.
2. if you have a happy relationship then don't care what some ignorant people might think
3. maybe you are both so gorgeous that they want an imprint of you on their retinas!

I am surprised about that - in London no one looks at anybody and go around with faces like smacked arses!!!! Miserable old sods!!!

If they stare be polite and beam a smile at them and say 'hello' - that will throw them and make them realise what idiots they are................

I think it depends on where you are. In San Francisco for example it isnt a problem.

People stare at anything different.
They can't help themselves.
They stare at young mothers, old mothers, women with lots of children, really poor people, really rich people, people with disabilities, people who are Muslim.
People can't help themselves. Until it becomes the norm, they're gonna continue staring mate.
