I think it should, don't you? I mean, aren't weekends suppose to be a break from school! I do my homework, but I just don't like doing it over the weekend, where I want to relax for a while from school. All I want is to have no homework on weekends, only on school days. you know what I mean, kids have to do work in school for about 6 hours a day for five days a week, and then they get homework. And after a long five days of work , they are suppose to take a little break, that is what the weekends are for, but then there is homework that we have to do. I think it's a waste of time giving homework on weekends, people have things to do, you know. And if somone does poorly in class, they should stay after school or have do some extra credit stuff over the weekdays, but not the weekends. And it should be the parents and kids decision to do work over the weekend if they are not doing so well. So, am I right or am I wrong??? WHAT DO YOU THINK? DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE? WHY?

Definitely. I have to put up with too much workload as it is on the weekdays. On weekends, all I wanna do is sleep and get on facebook or w/e. Plus I have to work a real job and chill w/ friends. Unfortunately, I also have to put up with additional assignments. But I don't do them on Friday nights cuz that's just not cool. In fact, I prolly try to finish the whole thing Monday morning. I suggest you try that.

NO I don't think there should be homework on weekends. But this reason there is, is because of NCLB.

This federal law mandates ALL kids to do state testing every year. And this testing is done to see how well the SCHOOL is doing, and NOT the student.
The better the scores, the school GETS MORE MONEY.

Teachers lie to the kids and tell them all kinds of crap such as 'if you don't pass this test you will fail xx grade' etc.
They are scaring the kids into passing these tests so they can GET MORE MONEY.

This is why schools have things such as afterschool tutoring, silent sustained reading, study classes, etc.
Especially if these are new to your school.
These are NOT to help the student learn, they are to help the school GET MORE MONEY.

And this is why there is SO much homework, even on weekends. THey are spoon feeding info into kids like robots to memorize the things that will be on the state tests so the school can GET MORE MONEY.
SO many people don't realize this.

Ask ANY teacher and they will tell you they can NOT teach what they want to teach. They HAVE to teach what this NCLB law mandates so the kids will score better on the state tests so the school will GET MORE MONEY.

Actually when I was in 4th, 5th and 6th grade I was in a school where we didn't get homework at the weekends and I was okay. But then I got a little lazy by the time I was in 7th and I wasn't studying as hard anymore and other people were getting better marks than me... Just think about it, if at the weekend you have double the time you have on other days, then surely you have enough time.

For children younger than thirteen, I do think homework should be banned over the weekends because there is more to life than schoolwork. Play through learning and, generally, just enjoying childhood are equally as important. For those older than thirteen, they are old enough to understand that studying and keeping up-to-date with schoolwork is vital for a good career in the future and that does mean some homework needs to be done over the weekends.

first of all, be glad that all you have going on is JUST school. i'm 23 yrs old, single mom of a 2yr girl, who has to work full time (obviously) and i go to college at night. i hardly have time to sleep, let alone to homework, but it's important to me. the weekends, and during the week after she's put in bed, is the ONLY time i have to do laundry, clean the house, do homework, etc. so no, i definitely don't think banning homework on the weekends is even a considerable idea!

I agree everyone listens to enough BS durring the week in school and at work. During the 1950's when i went to school we did'nt have home work on the weekends.
How else can someone clear their head and not have to worrie about school home work. the weekends should be a time of relaxation so you can do whatever you want inculdeing working a part time job.

Homework at the weekends... It must be terrible for you...

It's to prepare you for real work... Real six days-a-week, 10 hours-a-day work..

Work that if you whine about you lose your overtime

Work that if you don't do it on your own time you don't get the promotion.

Work that if you don't pull at least one 24 hour shift each month you'll work every weekend.

You've got it easy dude..

Do your homework on the Friday after you get your dinner put in front of you then forget about it until it's time to go to bed.

Then sit there hugging your knees and rocking yourself, scared of what you've got to do just to support yourself when you get yourself a job.

I say that Homework needs to be banned when in holidays and the crucial part is that a friend of mine studying in a college use to do his homework so called as assignment during his holidays... ITs a matter of stress and work involved when the time is there to make and let us free...
