Adolf Hitler wanted to be an architect and admired Roman and Greek style architecture. While Himmler of the SS wanted to recreate a neo-Pagan Germania Hitler was an admirer of Greco-Roman civilization. He wanted Germany to be the new Rome.

The Nazis took ideas from many different places and eras - Hitler was sometimes portrayed in art as a medieval Teutonic knight on a white horse, underlining his idea of a kind of crusade against the Slavs (even before this was put into practice).

Architecture was certainly influenced by classic styles, but the same is not true for uniforms, the Nuremberg Rallies, artwork, music and much more.

Hitler was a great admirer of Greco-Roman culture, and saw himself as bringing about a new German Empire on the scale of the ancient Roman Empire. The "Third Reich" ("third Empire") referred to the previous German Empires, the Holy Roman Empire (843 - 1806) and Bismarck's German Empire of 1871 - 1918, so the Nazis were very eager to associate themselves with glories of the ancient past. The Nazis wanted to impress people with images of power and stability, so they used neoclassical architecture to inspire feelings of grandeur and greatness - the Greeks and Romans who developed the ancient principles of architecture knew what they were doing - they purposefully designed their monuments and temples to impress people.
