During the Middle Ages,in some cultures,dreams were seen as evil and the images-temptations from the devil.In the vulnerable sleep state,the devil was believed to fill the mind of humans with poisonous thoughts.The devil did his dirty work though dreams,attempting to mislead humans...cheulou!

google "lokesenna" or "loki's flyting". it's one of the best myths in my opinion, and it's a nice show of Loki's malicious side as he spits the brutal truth to the Aesir.
