To detect a living organism requires external observation. The universe is by definition all we can conceptualize. So you can not determine this. So technically no, life is defined by a concept contained within the universe..
However metaphorically yes.

Before the emergence of intelligent objective life like ours the universe was a raging unknowing beast with no insight.
It produced us and became aware of itself.
The molecules and atoms of our bodies are inorganic but the collection and arrangements of our parts make us living organisms
You can extrapolate us into a universe.

Depends on your definition of 'life' I guess. Classically this is considered to be an entity that feeds, excretes, reproduces, protects itself, maintains an internal environment etc. I don't think the Universe can be thought of as doing any of these, so my answer would be 'No'.

In a way, one could say so I suppose...It functions in certain pattern that resembles life...Organic life is something quite unique though...I'd say there are similarities in as much as atomic and molecular structures are concerned, life however is much more sophisticated than a space in itself...

i believe so, that we are part of a much BIGGER picture,
well not this universe thats alive... i believe in multiple universes... but whats outside of that
