Like, over the years, my mom has gifted me with lots of sweaters and mufflers .
True, some of them were outrageous colours, and I wore them simply to keep her happy ;-) but this christmas, i want to make something for her.

Like there must be hundreds of sites about knitting, but i would prefer one with videos. (I can never follow my mom's hand movements when shes doing it... She's too fast)

Well, I'm sure you found tons of suggestions, and I haven't looked at the other answers yet, but in any craft store you should be able to find a scarf knitting "kit". It will have the needles, the yarn, and step by step as you go instructions. They are made for "never knitted before" people.

Check with friends you will be surprised who knits. Check out Micheal's craft store(or your local craft store) they usually have very inexpensive knitting classes. I love to knit. I sell scarves at holiday time. My mother taught me to knit years ago and when I took it up again I do it very differently that she does and a whole lot slower.Good Luck, Martha

You've already been given lots of knitting resources, but my recommendation is to use large needles! The larger the needles, the faster you'll get it done. :)

if you want to, buy a book about knitting, i'm pretty sure you can follow the instructions.
