keep things running at the guest house. They have now asked me to work both my off weekends and I feel that I cannot say no. Last night my bf said that he's very disappointed because we had plans made a long time ago for these 2 weekends. How do I not let my personal life go down the drain, while trying to support my employers? I feel like a wanna cry, cause either party has a big dissapointment if I don't do as they ask.

I agree with Peggy S. Have b/f pick one of the two weekends & help on the other. Neither b/f nor employees will be totally happy with the compromise. But that is the best that should be expected on both sides under the circumstances. Or help out with employees on weekday evenings (depends on the job) and save the weekends for the original plans - - you'll need the rest.

Hang in there. Don't pull out your hair. This is temporary.

If you do not take care of yourself - no one else will. You have to set you own boundaries. It is good that you want to help your employer but surely you are not the only employee? I would tell them that you would love to help on those weekends but that you have plans for both of those already. You deserve your time off.

Do what is right for you! Whether it is work or take the time off. Make a decision and stop the guilt.

Tell them that you would be happy to work one of the weekends, but you have made plans for the other that can not be changed. You and your bf decide which one you will not work.
