Listen guys...I have no problem with spending the money on helping people...but what you are not understanding..and I didn't either for a very long time...is the reason you should not want your government in control of all these things is because they are corrupt! Our huge corporate government is not going to do what is best for you as an individual...so the reason we don;t want the federal government to control...Health care, education, war on drugs...etc...is because they are not doing it...they know how the system works...and they also know that most of us don't! The bigger the government gets...the smaller the individual gets!

500 billion for a war in Iraq, no telling what we've spent on the war on terror.
What are other countries spending in this never ending pphuk fest of military spending?
Nowhere near what we are spending
We can afford universal health care, but we got our priorities all screwed up.
The reason we have our priorities screwed up is we have pizzzzed a lot of people off worldwide with our selfishness, arrogance and simple mindedness.
Why are so many gunning for us, instead of countries like Japan, Korea, Brazil, France, China, and Russia?
Makes one wonder doesn't it?
Look at how much we spend on weapons we ship overseas, maybe there is an answer.
According to a 2005 congressional study, we export 36% of the worlds arms, some independent studies put that up to 60%.
Therefore, we have a vested interest in feeding that hydra. So why don't the politicians stop that? Simple, because every congressional district benefits, through jobs, from the military machine. And most all politicians benefit from them through campaign contributions to, dare I say, outright corruption.
Peace

It's funny how some people still thinks America is the richest country in the world..
They have No freakin' clue how much debt we are in.. maybe they didn't see the National Debt clock.. or maybe they thought it was a joke..
I didn't watch the video, because I've seen their debates about health care, and they practically want the 'rich' to pay for the poor... but what they don't realize is that they are squeezing the middle class cash cow dry... they don't know and they don't care that the finances cannot work.. you can't have both guns and butter. If you want one, cut the other, or cut both.

Yes, I am aware that they are proposing health care. No, I don't agree there is no way to pay for it.
One problem I have found with conservatives on this board is that they consistently make statements with no proof, and expect people to believe their claims because they are so special.
As a for instance, here you make a claim and reference a movie AND DON'T PROVIDE A LINK!!!!
I guess we're all supposed to take you word for it that this mythical movie in some way proves that there is no way to pay for health care. Let me give you a short economic lesson.
Hospitals and doctors need money to operate, whether they are for profit, or non-profit. Bills must be paid. Currently, it is against the law to turn away a person in danger of death or permanent physical injury whether they have insurance or not. In order to comply with the law, the hospital must charge more to cover the costs of treating the indigent..
So, basically, we all pay for the care of the indigent through our insurance bills, or through direct payment. So we're already paying for it.
Now I'm sure there are some conservatives who would say "Let them die" and others who would applaud that. But can you explain to me how this reflects the much touted Family Values touted by the political right. And how, exactly, do you reconcile this with the teachings of Jesus?

Are you aware that you did not provide a link and over an hour for a video is much too long for me to sit and watch.
Our government is overspending most of the time, nothing will change until we have a third party candidate we can get behind.

I don't see a link here for a video, but I've lived under "socialised medicine," so I'm very curious to see it because I will be able to tell how much of it is true and how much isn't. Can you repost the link?

Sorry about the link?
Yes, extremely aware. Like SCHIP they placed a increase in cigarette tax from 39 cents to a dollar. I quit but the BF, oh heck. We will need healthcare if he has to. Rob from peter to pay paul? These programs are similar even Edwards says Hill stole his ideas. Same, same, same. Politics as usual & no change. Experience in pulling the wool over your eyes. Thanks.

I didn't watch your video. Why?
The government is TRILLIONS of dollars in debt. Logically, we can't afford a can of Coke. But yet, we are asked to pay BILLIONS to a war that a majority of us no longer want. And yet, Republicans continue to tell us that "public health care" isn't affordable.
I find the Republican logic baffling, not to mention ridiculous.

Try them first and judge them afterwards. The US is he richest country in the world. What you can or cannot afford has to do with your priorities and your choices. If you can afford the wars, you can afford the health care. Better to spend the money to save lives than to lose lives. It is sad when health care, in the most advanced country in medical terms, is worse BY CHOICE than in poorer countries.
