Not everybody in today's generation--but I see where you're going with this...

Most parents are not available to their children the majority of the time. Out of guilt, the parents buy the kids everything under the sun, AND give them money that the kids don't even account for (what it was spent on).

Most kids have no respect for their parents, teachers, or any other authority figures--but then, some of their parents don't either.

I don't blame the kids; I don't even blame the parents--I blame the government--for not fixing it so that more parents could be working from home--with benefits--and also be able to be available to their children.

I hate the idea of little kids being shipped off to daycare centers--I hate that schools have become little more than babysitters!!!

From what perspective are you speaking, PHOOLU?
"Today's" generation might mean the baby-boomers which comprise the majority of the population.
Or, as I presume, you are speaking of the emerging generation....the 20somethings.
Consider which generation in the past, other than 'The Greatest Generation' that wasn't materialistic, flaunting, unscrupulous, selfish and greedy.
Even us old hippies who thought we were so cool and self-sacrificing lied, cheated and did whatever we could to rise to the top of the social heap.
Give today's generation a break. Every generation needs to grow out of it's narcissism.
One thing that has always been wrong with every generation is the incipient morons like MS T Blue who haven't the courage to correct their own mistakes but, instead, blame others such as the easily villifiable government.
Grow up! Take responsibility for your own life!

This is a standard format for complaint of older generation towards a younger generation and though has a lot of truth in it but hardly any timely or appropriate relevance. As societies evolve and march ahead ,a lot of values of older order come under pressure and get modified ,revised ,relegated or even scrapped. It's not a question of whether it's worth it or not but to realize and accept the process as a historical compulsion and then think of minimizing the impact of more sever changes ,if possible.Did anybody foresee Gay Marriages 25 years back?Isn't society now trying to adjust to it through denial, protest ,accommodation and reluctant acceptance or what ever. The next generation shall have a similar question about their own younger generation and history of mankind, like always, keeps going.

Simple, an American will understand this better..........Life is all about winning. this slowly catching up with the rest of the world ...which is not good.
As ambitions surge so does all the vices you have listed .....it is always a story of new heroes and fallen heroes.Would it not be worth it we all could get back to a normal unselfish , compassionate and simple living? the world will surely be a better place. It is time to help the poorer nations build their basic infrastructure and see that no human goes hungry to bed...a tough ask but looks like that is waht you have on your mind.
