Hey guys,

I'm having trouble overclocking my E6600 from 1066 fsb to 1333fsb.

Specs:
Intel C2D E6600@2.4Ghz
2x1024OCZ 800MHZ CL4 DDR2
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 (Rev3.3)

I only want to overclock the FSB, so I up the cpu fsb to 333 and the multiplier to 7 because I want to keep the same speed.
then the computer restarts etc.. but it will only save the multiplier!!! So I was running 7x266 instead of 7x333!!!

why does this happen?

Could be one of many different reasons. You really should do a little more research into overclocking before doing this, there seem to several things you are leaving out. If you do want help, I am online on the IM.

Some CPUs just aren't overclockable that much. The CPU is only guaranteed to run at the speed it is sold as, and can usually only be overclocked a little. Try bumping up the FSB little by little, not in one great leap. Try find the area where it starts to have problems on system operation.

Note: Some lucky customers may get a CPU that can run up to 4GHZ without problem from a 2.4GHZ rated CPU. Then again, with some unlucky ones, you might never go above 2.5GHZ. It's a wild lottery.

i7 950 interior of reason new, so no longer many OCing threads. no longer many human beings even purchase a 940 or 950 at present because of the fact the 920 can overclock in simple terms as properly for 0.5 the fee. they are each and each of an analogous processor, in simple terms at diverse default clocks. the easy overclocking concepts for the 920 and 950 are an analogous. study that article I published before.
